SAS: Red Notice is set to be released in the U.S. on March 16th, and arrives in the UK on March 12th where it will premiere on Sky Cinema.
Based on Andy McNab's book of the same name, the action-packed thriller follows Tom Buckingham (Sam Heughan), a suspended special forces operator who finds himself taking on heavily armed mercenaries on a train deep inside the Channel Tunnel when it's attacked by Grace Lewis (Ruby Rose) and her team as they declare economic war on the British government.
Heughan is fantastic in this Die Hard-esque adventure, and it's not hard to watch his performance as this psychopathic member of the SAS and think of a character like Wolverine. Last year, a poll from Just Jared revealed that the actor is a clear fan-favourite pick to take over from Hugh Jackman, and while he's joked about playing the hero on social media, just how serious is Heughan?
"Wow. Damn, I'd have to start growing some hair," he responded. "I'm not sure I have the full beard for that. I haven't actually ever really thought about it, but I'd certainly love to be in something as popular as that. A superhero would be really cool. So, yeah, it would be fun, but I think Tom Buckingham is kind of a superhuman in his right."
That's an interesting answer, and if we had a tin foil hat to hand, we'd definitely wonder whether he might have already discussed playing Wolverine with Marvel Studios (he steered the conversation back to SAS: Red Notice pretty quickly). That aside, it's not something Heughan is against, and it seems likely he'd take Kevin Feige's call if the phone were to ring.
We'll have more on SAS: Red Notice for you soon. Watch our full interview with Heughan above.
