DARK PHOENIX Takes In Disappointing $5 Million From Thursday Night Preview Screenings

Although Dark Phoenix is expected to play slightly better overseas, the final X-Men movie is off to a pretty lousy start in North America after taking in just $5M from Thursday night preview screenings.

Box office projections were not good for X-Men: Dark Phoenix, and the Simon Kinberg-directed mutant adventure has seemingly proved the analysts right with a disappointing $5 million haul from Thursday night preview screenings in The US.

While this isn't too bad - especially taking those wretched reviews into account - it is significantly lower than its predecessor's preview takings (Apocalypse made $8.2 million in 2016, and 2014's Days of Future Past took in $8.1 million).

Dark Phoenix is expected rake in around $50 million over the course of its opening weekend (it will probably do slightly better overseas), but Secret Life of Pets 2 will likely come out on top. Illumination and Universal's animated sequel made $2.3 million from Thursday screenings, so there's still a chance Fox's finale X-flick clinches it.

Tell us, do you plan on checking out Dark Phoenix in theaters, or have the reviews turned you off? Let us know t in the usual place..
