The press office representing Brazilian actor Caio Paduan (Rock Story) recently told Omelete that the actor had an audition to play the mutant 'Sunspot' in Josh Boone's upcoming New Mutants movie. He hasn't heard anything back from the studio, but this seemingly suggests that 20th Century Fox is seeking an international actor to play the Brazilian superhero, who in 2014, was played by actor Adan Canto in X-Men - Days of Future Past.

In Brazil,
currently the actor works on the final episodes of the telenovela "Rock Story", screened by Rede Globo. An ad can be done at any time. Since pre-production began and filming is planned to begin June 4 in Boston and Montreal. "New Mutants" hits big screen in
April 13th, 2018.

Fox without fidelity with the line-up of the X-Men as always. But I think it's cool to have an original character nationality.

@Ramiel - I would assume it's because the New Mutants are teens/students, while Adan Canto is 35.
