Fox CEO Says Recasting WOLVERINE Is Not Off The Table, Comments On LOGAN's Oscar Chances

Hugh Jackman did wonders for Fox's X-Men franchise during his 17-year run but that doesn't necessarily mean his Wolverine claws will be "raised to the rafters" soon on the 20th Century Fox lot.

In a wide-ranging interview with Variety that covered superhero fatigue, Deadpool 2 and the future of the X-Men franchise, 20th Century Fox CEO Stacey Snider admitted that the studio's not going to retire Wolverine just because Hugh Jackman is stepping away from the character.

That naturally leads to the question of how soon will/should Fox recast the role?  It's definitely too soon for such a development as it would be pretty raffish to announce someone else is playing the character just as you launch an Oscar campaign for Jackman's final outing. But there is an X-Force movie looming...

Speaking of Oscar campaigns, comic book fans around these parts may be snickering at Wonder Woman's Oscar buzz, but it was actually Logan that was the first screener sent out to Academy voters.  Does Snider actually think the film has a chance?  "Absolutely. The way it combines classic storytelling with superhero lore is brilliant."

The 2018 Oscars will reveal its nominees on January 23, 2018.

@MrPositive -

hopefully
this movie deserve it most than wondy.
wonderella is a little bit above average,
the third act is soooo generic and for that
doesn't deserve the oscar nomination whatsoever.
Logan does deserve at least a nomination.

While I'd love for Hugh Jackman to win, there's not way he's going to be able to beat Gary Oldman for his role in 'Darkest Hour'.

I know it will never happen but Tom Hardy is a dream fan cast for me.

@DonaldBlake68 - If this was 10 years ago, I could agree but we need a actor that can age into the character well.
