Matt Reeves Takes Himself Out Of The Running For Wolverine 2

Matt Reeves Takes Himself Out Of The Running For Wolverine 2

Along with David Slade and Darren Aronofsky etc, Fox were looking at the Let Me In director to potentially helm the sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Indeed at one point it was believed that it had come down to him and Tony Scott. Well, we know it won't be Scott, and we now know it won't be Reeves..

Reeves is one of the directors on the DC/WB short list to direct their upcoming Superman reboot, but that's not the only CBM the in demand director of Cloverfield and Let Me In is/was attached to.

According to Worstpreviews..

When we sat down with him to talk about "Let Me In," we asked about "Wolverine 2" to which he replied that he has had talks about the sequel but that he will definitely not direct it. Reeves didn't clarify whether the studio chose someone else or if he decided against taking the job.

Is Wolverine's loss Superman's gain? Last we heard from Reeves on the Man Of Steel front he said he was "surprised" and: "I really have no idea if any of that is true. It's certainly an amazing project."

As far as Wolverine 2 goes, we know that Hugh Jackman has met with both Aronofsky and Slade, but neither director has been very forthcoming with further information. All we do know is that the story will focus on Logan's time in Japan.

Keep an eye on CBM for further updates on both of the above projects.

All of the directors in question are quite talented, it looks like Fox is taking the Wolverine sequel as seriously as they are the new X-men movie. I think a few people on this site are going to be owing a certain studio an apology.

Aronofsky is one of the best directors out there and is my choice to do W2.

Over rated my Irish ass! He might be over used alright, but that's only because he's such a great character. As long as he still attracts great writer sand great stories he's still THE MAN!

Intruder, Let Me In is not a scene by scene remake at all, in fact its being hailed as being better than the Swedish movie.

LogicEngage- Amen! Sucker Punch will decimate all and so would his own Wolverine: Japan Saga!

Intruder- Sorry but a "hack" couldn't have made V for Vendetta as visually awesome as McTeigue made it. Ninja Assassin might not have had a prize winning script but it was visually well done. And he'd totally nail Wolverine's Japan saga.

@fudgeIntruder.

Cloverfield didn't suck if you look at the FACTS. It got mostly good reviews and did well in the BO. And how do you know Let Me In is a scene by scene copy? Oh wait, you don't and it isn't. You're just a loud emo spurting dumb opinions based on nothing. lol

Is there an award for 'Movie least wanted by the Fans?' cause there should me. Wolverine II would win hands down.

This is a total wildcard at the moment. I know the odds look really, really, really bad but when you are talking movies you just don't know until it is done. Or at least close enough to done to make some actual judgments.

@Intruder.

Was Cloverfield suppose to be a horror movie in your tiny brain? 2 people on the internet vs. the majority of movie goers/critics and you think your opinion still stands. How dense can you be? Only a moron like you would reduce comments to pure insults.From the way you type, you're probably 12 yourself. You haven't written one intelligent thing. Try not being a complete hypocrite. PWND

The baby is mad! Quit it or you'll spill your milk. How about proving the majority thought Cloverfield sucks? I'd like to see you fail. I bet you'll just dodge and show everyone how much of a tool you are. lol, you eat my shit.

IMO Cloverfield was a real mixed bag. It was fine for what it was. BUT it could have been a lot better.

I know that the way they did things on that movie had some artistic merit, but in doing so it was just way less fun than it could have been.
There was just waaay too much Rob and friends and nowhere near enough giant monster.

As for Wolverine, I definitely agree with Intruder, StrangerX, Infamouslycool, etc

At this point strong cynicism toward W2 is completely understandable.
There's no reason whatsoever to think that they would handle that story line with the style, delicacy, and reverence to the source material that such an undertaking deserves.

I am also kind of bored with Wolverine.
