Director Darren Aronofsky has recently singed a two year deal in which his production company Protozoa will produce films for Twentieth Century Fox and Fox Searchlight Pictures.

The first film in this deal will be the sequel to the 2009 box office hit and X-Men prequel X-Men Origins: Wolverine. The sequel will be written by Oscar winning scribe Christopher McQuarrie starring Hugh Jackman returning as the title character, Wolverine.

According to the article filming is slated to begin in April of next year. The company is said to be looking for a winter of 2011 release date. The film so far only stars Jackman as we follow Wolverine directly after the events of X-Men Origins: Wolverine. The sequel will take place in Japan. No other cast members singed on as of now, though casting should start soon if they're aiming for a spring start.

Sounds like they're either rushing it or it'll be no action snore fest that wont require much in the way of post-production CGI. Either way, [frick] Fox. I like Aronofsky but I'm not paying to see this!

I remember in 1976, I heard about this film that the young up-and-comer, George Lucas was directing about a Flash Gorden-esque space flick, for the modern age. I thought "This sounds pretty neat, but I'm not going to pay any of my money to see it. It's FOX! It'll be shit. Lucas should take his property to another Corporate Empire, like Disney or something."

@JoshW "Sounds like they're either rushing it or it'll be no action snore fest that wont require much in the way of post-production CGI."

Many, many years' worth of martial arts films begged me to remind you there's a practically-shot middle ground.

I'm sorry to who ever thinks that fox cares one once about what fans think your fooling yourselves. After the crap fest that was origins I will not spend my hard earned money on one of their comic book movies again even if Marvel never gets the x-propertys back. fox wont be getting my money either.

If they decide to...
1.Put him in a suit that resembles the brown and yellow legendary costume. (I wanna say get a mask on his face but I don't believe it's going to be snowing in hell during 2011)
2.Play with the whole Silver Samurai villain thing.
And 3. Throw some Hand ninjas.
...then it may have a chance!

They are going to take a great story and turn it into a bad one. This is what Fox does.

Why would I waste my money on that?
angrynerd
angrynerd - 11/19/2010, 7:07 AM
@jimoakley666 sorry dude but those movies were crap. You are among a very small percentage of comic book fans who actually approve of the way the xmen were depicted. The casting was horrible. The special effects were worse. They strayed so far from the source material that they should have just abandoned it altogether and called the movie something else. If they'd have cast Danny Devito as Wolverine and Oprah Winfrey as Storm it would not have been worse.
