While discussing the fact that Hugh Jackman declined an offer to return as host to this year's Oscars, Deadline revealed some new information on "Wolverine 2."

Deadline reports: "This time, Jackman is busy preparing to reprise in the 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2' sequel that 20th Century is mobilizing to begin shooting in late February or early March. ... I'm told that Darren Aronofsky was locked in late last week to direct Wolverine 2. Scripted by Christopher McQuarrie, the picture will shoot in New York and Japan."

So there you have it: the Aronofsky deal is finalized and signed, but yet to be announced, and filming may happen sooner than previously reported.

But in all seriousness now, if the shooting has really been moved up as soon as February, Jackman's got a lot of work to do to lead up to that, and really can't bear the added work needed to come up with/rehearse bits for an Oscar Ceremony (which takes months in and of itself.)

People tend to forget that in addition to just acting in the film, Jackman's a producer on it as well. That means that in addtion to all the training he's done to get into shape, he really has to be there to confer with Aronofsky on the logistics/financing of the film as preproduction goes along.

There's no way he'd be able to fit both an Oscar ceremony and the film into such a tight schedule.

If he chose to do the Oscars instead then everyone would trash him and say he needs to GTFO because he doesn't care about the movie or fans. But he still gets shit for doing the movie. Go figure.

if he did the did present the oscars then fan rage would reach a new level on this website and even though he's turned it down he's still getting trashed

I liked him as host of the Oscars and would love to see him do it again, but in this case it's pretty obvious his choice was the only reasonable. Maybe one of the next years...

@MTL

I'm a big NPH fan, he would do a great job as host! Recently I watched "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" with Gene Kelly and Frank Sinatra, and if I had tons of money I'd remake a movie like this starring Jackman and Harris.

Is this film scripted yet or could I get paid for that too?

=)

I also formally revoke the jihad against Brian Singer based on the wiki I just read about First Class.

The movie could be OK.

I just was worried about it conflicting with the continuity of the storty arcs I have begun.

But I have faith things will proceed X-Cellently one way or the next.

Did I mention I was writing Wolverine 3??

=P
