X-MEN '97 Showrunner Beau DeMayo May Have Been Fired By Disney Due To "Unsettling, Creepy" OnlyFans Activity

More details have been revealed about what led to X-Men '97 showrunner Beau DeMayo's shock dismissal by Marvel Studios, including the fact some Disney executives were unhappy with his OnlyFans account.

When the news broke earlier this week that Marvel Studios had fired X-Men '97 showrunner Beau DeMayo, speculation immediately started running rampant about what led to him being dismissed mere days before the show's press tour began.

Contrary to social media scuttlebutt, his dismissal is said to have had nothing to do with the fact he's Black or gay. Instead, Jeff Sneider reports (via Toonado.com) that he was "an absolute nightmare to deal with on a daily basis," with the suggestion being he was a difficult presence behind the scenes of this X-Men: The Animated Series revival.

DeMayo is also said to have "raised concerns" with Disney higher-ups regarding his non-nude OnlyFans account. It's said they found his conduct on the platform "unsettling" and "creepy."

The creative has yet to comment but deleted his Instagram account earlier this month. He left X some time ago after frequently clashing with fans about the show.

In other news, Variety recently spoke with X-Men '97's creative team about the return of Morph and the fact the character is now nonbinary and rocking a different look to the version seen in X-Men: The Animated Series. The decision has been deemed "woke," but his creators have now hit back at fans.

"For me, the word 'nonbinary' is the same as the word 'shapeshifter,'" Larry Houston says. "Every character that can change from one gender to another, or from human to animal, that’s just another word for 'shapeshifter' for me."

Eric Lewald believes the first signs of this change were made appearance during X-Men: The Animated Series' second season. "He attacks Wolverine, his closest friend, in the most dramatic way by turning into Jean Grey and putting his hand on Wolverine’s neck and leaning in for a kiss. That’s as nonbinary as you can get."

"It’s Morph turning into a woman and coming onto Wolverine to freak him out. It was all there in Morph’s character. Now it’s become such a social thing that I think people will be more sensitive to how it’s used. That’s the only difference. We didn’t see a problem in reading him and didn’t feel he was any different."

Julia Lewald adds, "Did we teach you people nothing? Were you not watching? Did we not figure out how to be nice to each other and how to get along? It’s very odd to feel like we are still dealing with the same issues that we were dealing with 30 years ago. It’s painful."

Morph is expected to play a key role in X-Men '97 and it's hard to disagree with any of the points these creatives are making about the character. Regardless, we'll get to what the mutant brings to the table when the show debuts on March 20.

@MarvelZombie616 - Sex isn't evil but children should not be introduced to it in content that is rated and curated for the eyes of children. A parent or the education system should teach children about sex and health at the right age. There is no reason an 11 year old should have to watch a character get seduced or experience sexual advances in cartoon form.

@SonOfAGif - The demographic for this cartoon is the fans of the '90s cartoon. Even those who were kids then are old now.

Also the show does reportedly have sexual content, but that's not why they fired him and that's staying in the show.
The sexual content in the show and his OF account are two separate things.

If you're concerned about 11 year olds watching his OF account that's different. But I don't think his OF account qualifies as experiencing "Sexual advances in cartoon form".

@DarthOmega - Reading these uh, supporting comments makes me wonder where we are as a society. Its ok to opening be racist to white people on TikTok but if you're gay, people rush to your defense when you get caught with an account on a porn platform.
Itwasme
Itwasme - 3/16/2024, 3:10 PM
@AvalonX - let's not confuse saying "people are too hung up on sex" with disagreeing with the firing. He knew what he was doing and suffered the consequences. How many people face these sorts of consequences for their actions and then play the victim???
DarthOmega
DarthOmega - 3/16/2024, 3:20 PM
@AvalonX - It's selective. Take the Carano firing.

She made a comment about how demonizing your neighbors can lead to atrocities and used the most famous historical example. For this she was simply dismissed as a Nazi and fired.

Her costar actually demonized nearly half of the country and called them Nazis. He got to stay on and was praised.

People get upset when you make jokes about the LGBTQ, black, or women. So much they even boycotted Netflix. But James Gunn made several jokes over the course of years about pedophilia even throwing pedo themed parties, and Disney fired him. But the response was so big from people defending him Disney folded.

Sex work and underage sex jokes is fine for a family company in the eyes of the defenders. Talking about the extent of demonizing your neighbors... Fireable offense. These people are all over the place.

Itwasme
Itwasme - 3/16/2024, 3:39 PM
@DarthOmega - she repeatedly broke with their policy correct? Other actors were spoken to and stopped but she kept going didn't she? So she recieved the same treatment.

And her not only made fun of trans people but belittled the holocaust, frequently posted disproven conspiracy theories and so on. If she chilled out when asked - like her costars did - then she wouldn't have been fired. It's comical she now plays the victim and it would be equally comical if this guy did too.
DarthOmega
DarthOmega - 3/16/2024, 3:45 PM
@Itwasme - She didn't make fun of trans people liar. She responded to them when they kept threatening her. Her response was Beep Boop Boop. If you consider that making fun of trans people then I don't know what to tell ya .

Also she didn't belittle the Holocaust. She explain how you can get communities to demonize people and dehumanize them to the point where they actually believed a Holocaust was necessary. Her post was very clear.

Also what disproven conspiracy theories? Also I didn't even say she shouldn't be fired. I said her costar actually did the thing she was accused of and no one cared
DarthOmega
DarthOmega - 3/16/2024, 3:48 PM
@Itwasme - It's sorta like JK Rowling. She makes a perfectly reasonable comment about how women's spaces should be for women and not biological males. For this she was called a transphobe, had threats on her career and even threats on her life by biological males. When she responds all of a sudden it's "JK Rowling is bullying trans people." People see through this crap.
Itwasme
Itwasme - 3/16/2024, 3:53 PM
@DarthOmega - yep... revisionist. Saying she belittled the holocaust is putting it politely. She specially compared herself to news getting beaten up in the streets for their religion. As if that's the same thing as someone having a different POV of her online. When fans of hers asked her to speak out against racism she called them "cowards and bullies".

He had a long string of being confrontational online and when asked to stop she didn't. The conversation around her became political in a way it never did for her costars, and instead of cooling the waters she made it worse. If you can't see the difference then I can't really help you. Maybe you're just trying to play the victim like she is? Are you going to equate this conversation to being beaten and killed in the streets like the news were too? Don't you see how ridiculous that is?

You say belittling the holocaust was putting it lightly. What part of anything she said here belittled the holocaust?

You said "She specially compared herself to news getting beaten up in the streets for their religion. As if that's the same thing as someone having a different POV of her online."

No it isn't. She was talking about the media who regularly dehumanized anyone who voted Republican or anyone who didn't want the vax. Like Letitia Wright. People here who claim to champion women, especially women of color, went out of their way to dehumanize her for making a choice about her body. They called her a bitch, uncivilized, and in a stunning show of dehumanization called her a plague rat. I read that shit on this very site, and the usuals defended it.
Itwasme
Itwasme - 3/16/2024, 8:52 PM
@DarthOmega - you literally are the one dehumanizing the holocaust to think that Republicans are being treated the same way as the jews. It's nonsense and ridiculous. What with playing the victim all the time too? You aren't a victim here and neither is she. She was asked to stop engaging and she kept going. They too several steps and she ignored every one. Pascal talked to her, HR talked to her and arranged a special meeting, the PR team tried to work with her on how to respond better and nothing... until she lost her job and all of a sudden she's now a victim.
