Hugh Jackman Killed Bryan Singer In X-MEN: APOCALYPSE

You probably didn't realize that director Bryan Singer has a brief scene in X-Men: Apocalypse and that the reason why it's very brief is because Hugh Jackman's Wolverine/Weapon X kills him without mercy.

While a guest on the Empire Spoiler Podcast with executive producer Simon Kinberg, director Bryan Singer revealed that he has a small cameo in the film.  His cameo is brief, as he's dispatched pretty quickly by Wolverine/Weapon X.  Singer begins discussing the scene and getting Jackman aboard at the 24:00 minute mark.  Below, we've included a quick transcription for those of you on mobile or tablet devices.

"I have a little cameo, I'm the guy with the machine gun..screaming. When I look at it, I couldn't recognize myself so I knew no one else could.  But it was cool to get killed by Wolverine.  It's now one of the many things I can put on my resume.  When went back later to film the Wolverine segment because Hugh was training for the next Wolverine sequel and we wanted him in a certain kind of shape.  At first, Hugh was reticent to do it, but once I explained it to him, what the scene is and why it's there, he agreed to do it over the phone, which is unusual.  Usually there's a bit of negotiation involved, but he said 'You can call my Agent, but I'm in, I love it.'"

@Luminus - I wouldn't say I hated it, but it does bother me that they went to all that trouble of replicating the iconic Weapon X imagery, but then whiffed on the helmet.

How much more powerful of a moment would that have been if all we saw was a crazed lunatic wearing this:

And then Jean steps forward to take off the helmet and reveal how scared and confused Hugh Jackman was underneath.

The way they did it, Wolverine comes out angry and just attacks a bunch of people in a berserker rage because that's "awesome", but it totally saps the tragedy of that moment. Logan shouldn't be getting badass revenge on a bunch of soldiers, he should be a caged animal that is trying to escape his torturers.

There are far bigger sins this film commits (both of the wrong-headed and just-plain-dumb variety), but this scene only existed as fanservice and it fell completely flat to this fan.
