X-MEN: APOCALYPSE Will Place Magneto & Mystique's Romance Front & Center

Ever since Jennifer Lawrence and Michael Fassbender were first cast as Magneto and Mystique in X-Men: First Class, their star power has exponentially increased year-after-year. Now, THR reports that the two will be the focal point of X-Men: Apocalypse.

Jennifer Lawrence and Michael Fassbender are arguably two of the most famous actors on the planet these days following numerous Academy awards and nominations for the pair. Within an examination of Lawrence's upcoming film roles, The Hollywood Reporter states that a source has revealed to them that the Bryan Singer directed X-Men: Apocalypse will capatlise on the sucess of the two stars. Namely, Singer will be putting the romatic relationship between Magneto and Mystique 'front and center.' Interesting, considering that Magneto and Mystique didn't exactly seem to be on the path to a whirlwind romance in Days of Future Past.  20th Century Fox are also unwilling to move the film's start date so Lawrence can work on Joy, an upcoming film  from Lawrence's frequent collaborater, David O. Russel (American Hustle). Would you like to see more Fassbender and Lawrence, or would you like other characters to have more screentime, share your thoughts below.

Bryan Singer is returning to direct X-Men: Apocalypse, his fourth X-Men movie, which will star James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult, with Simon Kinberg producing once again.  The film will be released on May 27th 2016.

A X-Men film that focuses on Magneto and Mystique? I'm shocked. Totally shocked.

No romance please, we don't need that sh*t anymore in the X-Men films. Oh and less Mystique, I know Lawrence is like "the actress of the moment" but that shouldn't make her more important than the rest of the cast. She had more than enough screen time in DOFP.

If the movie has to have a romance, how about a pre established one that people were already interested in in first class?

This production is so schizophrenic. I could have sworn that Bryan Singer himself said he was going to put her relationship with Beast front and center. Not that I care about any of that.

Once again, the true core group of X-Men (Cyclops,Beast,Iceman,Angel, and Marvel Girl/Jean Grey) will be relegated to extended cameos, even Wolverine will take a backseat. This is going to turn into a Twilight flick, maybe Apocalypse can have a threesome with the other two. Marvel- please get the rights back to these characters.

If you think about there is not "ONE" superhero film that doesn't capsulate on the essence romance. Not "ONE".

Fox you FOX, seriuosly go fox yourself.
God dammit I want a [frick]ing X-men movie with more than the same 5 [frick]ing xmen. A movie where the team is what matters. Something like what Brad Bird did to Mission Impossible 4.

"Magneto and Mystique are barely acquaintences in the comics in the 616 verse. "

@DrDoom Not true.

It's hilarious how afraid these studios (Fox/Sony) of trying anything new. Hopefully their screen time is reduced so that a new generation of actors can be introduced. Mystique isn't THAT interesting of a character, especially in these films.

Regrettably, this movie will probably be the beginning of the end of Fox's ownership of the X-men. I think a combination of the young actors not re-signing, the older actors being too old and the general public being tired of the x-men movies in general (yes, the DOFP was only a modest domestic BO performer) will signal the slow and steady demise. I loved the last movie and have great respect for singer, but these are getting increasingly expensive and the box office, I believe, just will not be there for these movies in the future.

I can dig it. I don't really care about comic accuracy, I just want a movie that could somehow be better than DOFP, which is a burden, if you ask me.

Boooooooring. Enough about Mystique!!!

At least if they are going to show a Mystique relationship it should be the one with Azael, I mean, they have a kid togheter!! That already appeared in the movies!!!!

Anyway, I would rather see the original cast, and by that I mean: Rogue, Colossus, Iceman, Kitty...

That is not to say I dont hope Apocalyps is a good movie :D
