SPECULATION: Who Could the Four Horsemen Be?

Careful for SPOILERS from DoFP. Who should Apocalypse's infamous Four Horsemen be in the upcoming X-Men film?

Editorial Opinion
By Lantern - May 26, 2014 06:05 PM EST

Everyone who has seen X-men Days of Future Past and stayed for the post-credit tease of Apocalypse undoubtedly noticed the four horsemen standing behind him. For those who are not familiar with the horsemen, they are basically Apocalypses brainwashed servants who help him conquer civilization. Who could Apocalypse line up in his new line of servants?

MR. SINISTER

This is obviously going to happen. If it doesn't, Fox will once again have to deal with the screaming fan boys who are already wary of the franchise. Mr.Sinister has been a horseman in the past, he will most likely be one here. Enough said.

STORM

Storm is from Egypt. I predict that a young Ororo Munroe will happen upon Apocalypse in the first part of the film and become one of his servants. She is extremely powerful and would pose quite a threat to the x-men.

GAMBIT

Once again, Gambit has been a horseman before. It is definitely not out of the question that Channing Tatum's first time in the role could be as a villain. Maybe with a bit of redemption at the end? POSSIBLY leaving him in an interesting position for a spin-off film? hmmmmm

ROGUE

This could be the redemption of the character that fans have been waiting for. Rogue thus far in the franchise has mainly played the damsel in distress, but could being taken over by Apocalypse change her entire attitude? As a servant she would be dangerous. AFTERWARDS she could possibly see herself as weak and want to hide the pain she went through with the tough girl attitude that comic book fans love. This story could set her up as a much more interesting character for audiences to see in the future.

So....
Who should be a horseman? Cyclops? Jean? WOLVERINE??? Comment your thoughts below.

Magneto-he was on in x men evolution and I want to see him vs scarlet witch, quick silver and Polaris

Charles-x men evolution

Angel-I have never read the comics but I have heard archangel is awesome

Sebastian shaw- I know this will never happen but I want it to because he was so cool in first class

I'm predicting: Gambit as Death, Storm as Famine, Mystique as Pestilence, Magneto as War.

How about Fox, Sony, Marvel, & Warner Bros.?

Seeing Archangel would be great. Super dark but really good storyline around him. That said I doubt it'll happen.

Also for the record Mr.Sinister was never one of the Horseman to my knowledge, he was Apocalypse's right hand and was largely in charge of creating/suping up the Horseman, but he himself was not a horseman at least until much later in the comics.

I'm almost 100% sure Logan will be a horsemen. It makes sense honestly, he's easy to get too and it's a good way to re introduce him to the team. Also same goes for Gambit, good way to introduce him.

Making Mr. Sinister one of the four horsemen would be a mistake IMHO.

Apocalypse being the main villain would overshadow him. A major villain like Mr. Sinister should be saved for a future X-Men movie.

Gambit becoming one of the four horsemen is a strong possibility. Same goes for Storm.

@MrCBM Nightcrawler never served as a horsemen in the comics, but that doesn't mean it won't happen in the movie.

I think storm will be in love with gambit in Egypt and she'll abandon him for the X-men. He'll stubble across Apocalypse and Apocalypse will convert him. Will. That Nowland guy be featured? Cause that'll be a good first mission for Scott and crew, save Nowland.

I don't see what is wrong with the AOA Four Horsemen. Sinister fits perfectly and Holocaust and Abyss are great visuals. Replace Mikhail with Archangel and you have strong adversaries.

There's no way they introduce gambit and immediately have him become a horsemen...that makes no sense to me.

War : Angel
Death: Wolverine 100%
Famine: Storm
Pestilence: Nathaniel Essex

Idk I just don't think they'll have gambit b one

I doubt Gambit will be a horseman because as others have said to introduce him in this movie to just become a horseman makes no sense. I also doubt Rogue will be a horseman either and the reason why is because she is pretty much being introduced in this movie too. She hasn't been relevant in X-men movie since X-2 and even then she relegated to following Logan around and sitting in the plane she hasn't done anything relevant to the plot of a movie since the original X-men. Archangel is a must as Death and I would love to see Mr. Sinister finally the rest I am not sure about.

I'd like to see Archangel and Psylocke among them. Not exactly ruining their characters considering both would have been warped against their will and essentially made slaves.

War: Magneto(he will turn on Apocalypse and rejoin Charles) and Juggernaut
Death: Wolverine
Famine: Storm
Pestilence: Mystique

@ breakneckbeck

You're partially right. Sinister was never a horseman in 616. He was Apocalypse's right hand man.

In Age of Apocalypse (an alternate reality) he was one of the horsemen.

In Age of Apocalypse the Horsemen were Mikhail (Colossus' brother), Abyss, Holocaust, and Sinister.

I woukd prefer all villains as Horsemen and only one of them being a brainwashed hero. I think they work better that way. The only problem is that the Fox-Men films haven't really used any villains. I guess they could be Toad, Sabretooth, Mystique and then one X-Man. Preferably Wolverine. But aside from those 3 villains, the only other worthwhile villain is Magneto. I dont count Juggernaut because he was a joke

Would have been better to include Gambit if the films had established a relationship between Rogue and Gambit in the X-men films, the relationship then would have had more impact.

I like your choices but i would prefer the four horsemen to be: Angel, Wolverine, Cyclops, Jean. Mr Sinister should not be a horseman.

Wolverine and Gambit as War and Death would be good with me. Gambit has always been sketchy, its a good way to get that across. Wolverine fights off the influence and saves the day of course, we're still talking about Fox here. The other two are large parts of meh.

Sinister is probably going to be the villain of a solo Gambit movie. About how Gambit deals with the fall of Apocalypse and manages to free himself and turn over a new leaf. Maybe because Rogue believes in him based on the events of the previous movie only she was privy to?

That's how I'd play it.

Archangel would be cool to see though.

Big question here though: are they going to use the horseman of the Apocalypse schtick at all?

@captainamerica21

that wolverine being one of the horseman could work..
apocalypse could capture him and reaply the adamantium or a similar type of metal, brainwash him and control him... at the climax of the movie there could be a huge fight between apocalypse and his horseman against the combined forces of the x-men and magneto(and his brotherhood if he has assembled them already), during the fight wolverine tries to attack prof. x and magneto catches him mid air as he is about to impale xavier and rips the adamantium off of wolverine's body. magneto leaves him for dead and they all attack apocalypse at the same time.. with prof. x using his powers to enhance the abilities of everybody else they are able to defeat apocalypse creating a huge blast that knocks everyone out..

magneto rippin off the adamntium helps wolverine to break free of the mind control but at the same time he gets amnesia. his healing factor allows him to recuperate, albeit not completly. he gets up and looks at the huge destruction the fight has caused.. not fully conscious he looks around and doesnt see anyone, since the blast separated everyone. not knowing what he is doing there he turns around and walks away and wonders alone for a while.. which in turn, that ending to his storyline could serve to set up wolverine's next solo film.

Mr Sinister should NOT be a horseman. That would suck. I think Gambit will definitely be one. Don't really care who else, but I'd love to see Wolverine be on Apocalypse's side. Whether he's a horseman or not.
Tainted87
Tainted87 - 5/27/2014, 6:28 AM
Gambit MIGHT be.... but only if they go the Hawkeye route (character is more-or-less introduced as getting brainwashed, then wants redemption)...

But in the comics, people forget that he VOLUNTEERED to be Apocalypse's horseman. Why? Because he thought he could fight the programming and topple Apocalypse's plans from within.
----

When I saw Ink use his power to make people vomit, I got the immediate impression - Famine.

Remember, half of the horsemen are always obscure characters who are pretty much created to become them. The only mutant we'd ever seen before in the Fall of Mutants story was Angel.

Wolverine is an obvious one. Gambit COULD be another one, but Singer doesn't read comics. Possibly Nightcrawler, cause they mentioned he would be in the film. And I'd bet anything that the fourth one is Magneto.

Apocalypse is going to take place in the 80's, so Rogue would be a baby.

Who were the original Four Horseman, other than Archangel? Why is everyone thinking it will be established characters? Although, the Storm theory is a good one!

I like Wolverine for Death, Gambit as war, and 2 other unknowns. This will make a great redemption story as the X-men try to get here fellow mutants back.

On another note I personally did not like the look of En Sabah Nur. They could've at least got an Egyptian looking kid to play him.

@dezdigi

Because for a X-Men movie with Apocalypse, a redemption story would work the best for GA. (at least thats how I see it)

Rogue would be good as Famine,
Her power reminds me or the original famine from the comics.
Plus they owe me for giving her a 2 second cameo in DOFP

They've said some of the original cast will appear, so more time-jumping could be possible.

I'm seeing Magneto as War, Gambit as Pestilence, Juggernaut as Famine, and Wolverine as Death. This could now be where he gets his adamantium claws from. I think they should save Sinister for the next one.
