300 Sequel Gets A New Title

300 Sequel Gets A New Title

300: Battle of Artemisia? Nope. The news has just broken that Warner Bros. have decided to rename Noam Murro's sequel to Zack Snyder's 2006 hit based on the Frank Miller comic book. Read on to find out what the new title of the movie is!

With Zack Snyder currently hard at work on the post production of Man of Steel, the sequel to 300 (originally believed to be called 300: Battle of Artemisia) will instead be directed by Noam Murro (Smart People), a fairly unconventional choice. The cast has been filling out nicely over the past few months, with Rodrigo Santoro returning as Xerxes and Eva Green set to play Artemisia. The film wil apparently serve as both a prequel AND sequel to 300, but there’s not an awful lot of details currently available about either the plot or tone we should expect. However, we now have one more detail - not that it sheds an awful lot of light on anything important - and that is a brand new title for the sequel.

Actually, really appropriate in historical terms. It doesn't sound too good, though. The Battle of Artemisia is just as good and epic as the 300 one...I just hope this works out.

The word Rise was an important part of TDKR but for other movies it's used pretty unoriginally

Hannibal Rising,
Rise of the planet of the apes,
Rise of the Machines,
Rise of the silver surfer,
Rise of Cobra,
Rise of the lycans,
Seeker: The Dark is Rising,
Rise of Taj (Van Wilder),
Vallhalla Rises

The only one that used Rise appropriately was The Dark Knight Rises. But still enough with the "Rises" or Rising".

Can one of you Nolan fanboys please explain how TDKR is the only movie to have used "rise" correctly?

Of the movies listed so far it actually seems the least appropriate.

@Harrison

The Batman Symbol rises from the ashes and becomes the inspiration the people of Gotham need to protect their own city.

TDKR is all about rising, both metaphorically and actually (from the pit)

I'm not sure how to feel about this film considering it won't have Zack Snyder helming it. That guy was the main reason the first film was so entertaining.

This movie is a sequel AND prequel?!? This is sounding like one big ol' mess!

But I like the title change. Mainly cuz I like the word empire.... lol

I hope this film does good. I really want it to, but I don't know. This thing seems like its been in development hell forever.
