After the fifth Mission Impossible movie came out, and after the most recent James Bond movie was released, I began to think about what the next (and still unannounced at the time) installments of each franchise would be about. This caused me to formulate this theory: What if Mission Impossible 6 is a James Bond Crossover?
About six months later, Henry Cavill was rumored to be the next James Bond, and expressed interest during interviews for his newest film at the time, The Man From U.N.C.L.E. In this movie he plays a very James Bond-esque secret agent.
His performance created a huge push from fans of Cavill to play Bond. The rumors died down after a little while, with still no casting announcements as of yet.
The second aspect of the theory would consist of the next Mission Impossible movie being called "M:I:6." This title would refer to the agency James Bond works for, and the "M:I" would stand for Mission Impossible, which is how the first three Mission Impossible movies were titled.
Early last month the photo below was posted by Mission Impossible: 6 director Christopher Mcquarrie (left), confirming the rumor that Henry Cavill (right), would star along side Tom Cruise (middle) in the next installment of the franchise.

This post added to my theory, since Cavill was so heavily rumored to be playing Bond, and seeing him next to the star of the Mission Impossible franchise legitimized my theory just a little bit more. Since there's no casting for the new Bond, this is my best bet, and it's definitely something I would like to see play out. I know this is a little bit strenuous, but I though I'd put it out there anyway.
I'd like to start posting more movie/TV theories every once in a while, so let me know if you'd like to see more of these in the future!
