Armie Hammer to Play the Lone Ranger?

When Johnny Depp finishes shooting Tim Burton's Dark Shadows (which commences production next month in England), it's expected that he will be turning his attention to the big screen version of The Lone Ranger, in which he will play Tonto. Deadline is reporting that Armie Hammer could be playing the masked man.

Hammer, who starred in The Social Network and was one of the cast members for George Miller's aborted Justice League: Mortal, is reportedly having early talks about the part. The film will be directed by Gore Verbinski (who had previously collaborated with Depp on the first three Pirates of the Caribbean films as well as Rango) from a script by Justin Haythe. Jerry Bruckheimer will serve as producer.

No he's not. This is a common misconception.
First off Arm and Hammer isn't a company it's a brand.
Armie Hammer is the great grandson of oil tycoon Armand Hammer , who was a minority shareholder in in the company Church and Dwight ( who owns Arm and Hammer). Armand Hammer wasn't the company's founder , and he was never it's CEO. The founder of C&D is a man named John Dwight.
Oddly enough, Armand isn't even the brands namesake as the Arm and Hammer brand was started 30 something years before Armand Hammer was born.
The only thing Armie Hammer is heir to, is his own family's fortune.

The names are purely coincidental.

This dude has a [frick]ed up name. Who would name their kid Arm & Hammer? They must've been stoned when he was born ;) Seriously though, I can't take this guy seriously with that name. He should use his first name, Armand, or his middle name, Douglas.

Hell no to him playing the Lone Ranger. Even though the thought of Johhny Depp playing Tonto makes me sick, Depp would overshadow "Armie" on the big screen. They should just call it "Tonto and the Lone Ranger".
