During an interview with
Harper’s Bazaar UK, Kristen Stewart revealed that she was advised to play down her sexuality in order to advance her career.
The 29-year-old
Twilight actress, who will star in the upcoming
Charlie's Angels reboot, says she was "fully told" that if she did herself a favor and didn't "go out holding your girlfriend’s hand in public, you might get a Marvel movie.”
We don't know if it was actually someone
from Marvel who said this (it more than likely wasn't), and Stewart doesn't clarify if she was up for a specific role at the time. Either way, it seems clear that her refusal to play ball has had an impact on her career... not that she gives a damn.
"‘I was informed by an old-school mentality, which is – you want to preserve your career and your success and your productivity,’ she continued.
‘There are people in the world who don’t like you, and they don’t like that you date girls, and they don’t like that you don’t identify as a quote unquote “lesbian”, but you also don’t identify as a quote unquote “hetero-sexual”. And people like to know stuff, so what the f*** are you?’
If Stewart did decide to try her hand at the superhero movie genre, which Marvel - or DC - character do you think she'd best suit? Drop us a comment down below, and check out some photos from Kristen's shoot with Harper's Bazaar.
