SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME Star Tom Holland Reveals More Details On His Failed JAMES BOND Prequel Pitch

During Spider-Man: No Way Home's press tour, Tom Holland reflected on pitching a James Bond prequel movie to Sony Pictures that...well, it didn't sound all that great. Ultimately, it sounds like his idea opened the door to the Peter Parker actor taking on the lead role in Uncharted, and Holland opened up on his ideas for 007 during a recent appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers.

"It didn’t work out quite as planned," Holland admitted. "Essentially, I’m such a big fan of James Bond. I’ve loved Daniel Craig’s movies. And I just thought: If they were to move on it would be really exciting to see how James Bond becomes James Bond."

"So, I pitched this idea for a movie, which is kind of a stupid idea. Essentially you wouldn’t tell the audience that it was a James Bond movie until the end," he continued, "but from a marketing point of view, that’s a nightmare. Like that just doesn’t make any sense."

It's certainly an intriguing idea on Holland's part, but we're not exactly surprised this didn't blow many minds at Sony. The Spider-Man actor has actually shown he's got what it takes to be Bond with his memorable turn as Nathan Drak in Uncharted, so it's feasible he'll get to take a shot at the iconic Ian Fleming creation somewhere down the line.

As far as an origin story for 007 goes, that's been done, but with still no word on who is going to replace Craig after No Time to Die, the direction the franchise will go in from here remains to be seen.

The concept of it seeming like just an original movie and the twist of it being a movie that's part of big franchise is actually a pretty frickin' cool idea. Split kind of had that but this would be a much bigger deal.

@Luigi - Eh idk .. The Cloverfield "franchise" was just odd, aside from the first one.

@Luigi - yeah, I think it could work. But with James Bond though, I don't how long you can go on without him ever saying his name

Holland reminds me of 80s Michael J Fox. Boyish charm, seems forever young.
