It was reported on Sunday that Javier had been offered a role in the newest James Bond film, and at the time it was pure speculation that the role was of the films villain.

Bardem confirmed that he is being considered for the villain, but wants to read the screenplay before he makes any decisions.

He also told the LA Times:

, “I’m a huge fan of the James Bond saga. When I was little, I went watching Mr. Connery doing James Bond with my father. Who in the world would think I’d be in one of those movies.”

And here's a little bit about what Sam Mendes told Bardem about the role, these are Bardem's own words.

“They’re changing the whole thing, the whole dynamic. I’d be playing Bond’s nemesis, yes, but it’s not that obvious. Everything is more nuanced. It’s very intriguing.”

Sounds like it's going to be a nice change from the normal Bond villains we're used to seeing.
After 'Quantum of Solace', I'll gladly give them a chance to redeem themselves.

So he is basically already signed.

Im sure he is going to be great villain. Hope he plays Quantum´s number two, like Emilio Largo was Spectre´s number two in Thunderball.
Thou he would be great as the head of Quantum too.

I dunno I still think it's too soon for Number 2 to come up in the series, especially when we have yet to see or hear any sort of allusion to Quantum's version of Blofeld. I'm more interested in what he meant when he said, "I’d be playing Bond’s nemesis, yes, but it’s not that obvious." Anyways I guess we'll wait and see. It sounds like this Bond flick is coming together nicely, and I'm glad that Craig's getting at least one more outing as Bond.

alright!! the right guy getting the right role!!
Sounds like he'll be a villain that actually has ties with Bond, so he won't know that Javier is the guy he'll eventually have to face off with. It makes sense, because in Quantum of Solace, they hinted that MI-6 had a mole, or some kind of crack in the armor. The guy is gonna own this!

And Viggo Mortenson will be able to be Roland In The Dark Tower, too!!!!! the stars are aligning perfectly!

He would truly be an asset for the new Bond film without doubt!

This could work. Would like to see some screen tests with him before I judge though.

Fine, as long as this doesn't get in the way of his Dark Tower commitments. Bardem would make a perfect Roland.
