NBC Developing HENCH; A 'Super Villain' Themed TV Show

There aren't too many details available right now, but NBC has apparently started development on a new TV series called Hench. While it's not based on a pre-existing comic book, it will focus on a man who temps for super villains in order to look after his family. Read on for details.

Deadline reports that NBC have started developing Hench, a new TV series from Peter Berg and Sarah Aubrey's Film 44 and Universal TV. The site describes it as, "a high-concept drama," so exactly how much of an influence it will take from the world of comic books is unknown. However, with Alexandra Cunningham (the writer of NBC's Prime Suspect US remake) on board to pen the script for the pilot, it may end up being a fairly serious affair. Regardless, the premise of Hench is definitely an intriguing one as it, "centers on a regular guy who, in order to support his family, gets jobs temping for super villains." What do you guys think? Interested? Sound off with your thoughts in the usual place.

Sounds cool enough. As long as it's not a soap opera.

Sounds like a great premise to me, I'd watch it. Wish it was related to Marvel or DC though, with heroes/villains we actually know

Knowing NBC they will probably cancel this pretty damn quick if ever gets past the development stage.

So they can cancel it after one season I.e. No Ordinary Family.

My point exactly.

The Cape? Wasn't that a "a high-concept drama," That "centers on a regular guy" who, in order to save his family, pretends to be dead to fight criminals?

Sounds like Austin Powers when you get a glimpse into the lives of the henchmen as they're killed off.

Wow, this show sounds like a much more faithful adaptation of Wanted than the actual Wanted movie

Sounds interesting. It would be cool if slowly the character develops aspirations to become a super villian himself. Or not, but it seems like a cool show to check out.

Yeah this was already done by Marvel..he's called Hydra Bob and he joins Hydra to make money for his family, but then he just ends up joining deadpool. If this is not gonna be a comedy then it's gonna fail.

Cause you really can't take someone serious in goofy custom. Then again they will probably ditch the super villain aspect and put as a guy joining street gangs and drug cartels to make ends meet for his family..then it will be just another cop show.

Sounds like Breaking Bad - Cancer + Spandex. I'll watch it, probably gonna go the way of No Ordinary Family & The Cape though.

It'll be like the cb 'The Joker'...

Which is about a henchman who works for the Joker obviously...

the story is told through his eyes and NOT Batmans or the Jokers...

Great Comic..

Hmmm sounds like a cool concept but with it being on NBC I don't see it lasting long. I mean, I loved Heroes and The Cape was actually pretty good but NBC doesn't have a good track record with these unique show premises.

As a few others said: sounds very "Venture Bros." Not that it's a bad thing bit definitely more suited to comedy, in my humble opinion.

This was a comic by Adam Beechen. I hope they aren't trying to pass this off as an original idea.

i liked heroes, and the cape... but those have zero to do with this, Grimm is on NBC,but nobody brought that up..is it because it's doing well? i mean NBC didn't cancel it,it's got a big fan base,as did the others. NBC is where they launched the beloved re-boot of Battlestar galactica..nobody mentioned that..NBC owns SYFY... the plot to this :hench" sounds odd.. and you are free to judge it on premise,i personally don't like the sound of it.. but i'll refrain from complaining til i see it..eventhough, i'm not really interested in seeing it..but bringing up shows that were cancelled,as a comparison would only really work,if they cancelled all of the fantasy based shows..but they haven't,and don't..they did cancel some..but in general. there is little reason,or logic to bring those up..just sayin
