I have been here a little while now, and I have noticed that when something gets posted about a comic movie that isn't your normal super-hero movie, some people start throwing out lines such as:

- What a waste of a post!
- This isn't a comic book movie!
- Why is "insert post title here" this even allowed?
- Are you for real?

I am betting that some of you didn't know that some of your favorite supposedly "non-comic movies" are actually based on comics! I am going to post a little information about the six movies I picked below as well as a trailer for each movie. So if you haven't heard of it or didn't want to see it to begin with, maybe you will change your mind and go out and seek a copy.

We will take a look at 3 of the six today and continue on tomorrow.

A History of Violence

This movie is an American crime thriller film directed by David Cronenberg, and written by Josh Olson, based on the graphic novel of the same name by John Wagner and Vince Locke. The film features Viggo Mortensen as the owner of a diner who is thrust into the spotlight after killing two robbers in self-defense.

From Hell

This movie is an American thriller film about the Jack the Ripper murders, loosely based on the graphic novel of the same title by Alan Moore and Eddie Campbell. It was directed by the Hughes brothers, the first film that they directed outside of the hood film genre

Ghost World

This movie is a film directed by Terry Zwigoff, based on the comic book of the same name and screenplay by Daniel Clowes. The story focuses on the life of two teenage friends, Enid (Thora Birch) and Rebecca (Scarlett Johansson), who are outside of the normal high school social order in an unnamed district of Los Angeles.

I hope you have enjoyed this first look into non-mainstream comic related movies. In tomorrow's segment we will take a look at three more comic movie properties.

Strange you didn't just put up the other three.

Also, I'm not sure what your other three are but I've always noticed a lot of people never knew these movies were based from comics:

Men in Black
Rocketeer
Road to Perdition
V for Vendetta
Constantine
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (everyone thinks it's from the cartoons)

I didn't want everyone to have to scroll for days looking through the information so I just divided it up. Gives everyone something to read tomorrow as well :)

I can dig it. I wonder if any the films I mentioned will make your list. It's funny when people say something like, "I hate comic book movies" but end up enjoying movies that they never knew was a comic.

My friends never knew that Watchmen was a comic!

Lee, you should read the whole article, it does say that the other three will be presented tomorrow.
