As Sony Pictures gear up to start shooting their remake of Arnie actioner Total Recall, Collider bring us these new casting announcements. Beckinsale had already been rumored to be in talks for the role of Lori. Now, it's been confirmed, and she is joined by that loveliest of creatures, Jessica Biel..
Last month we heard that Sony Pictures had offered Kate Beckinsale the role of Lori opposite Colin Farrell in their Total Recall remake. With her husband, Len Wiseman, directing the project and given that they previously collaborated on the Underworld movies, it wasn’t really much of a surprise. However, sources have now told us that she’s officially signed on and Jessica Biel is going to play the other female lead (Melina). In addition to the casting news, we’ve been told filming starts Monday in Toronto.
Update: THR report that
Underworld and
Pirates Of The Caribbean actor Bill Nighy has also joined the cast as Quatto. You may remember a similar character in the 90's movie that was played as a small mutant living inside a human host. Apparently that won't be the deal here.
We haven't really been covering this remake at CBM so here is some more info. Colin Farrel will play the original Arnie role, Ethan Hawke will have an undisclosed cameo and Bryan Cranston(
Breaking Bad) will play the villain Vilos Cohaagen(Give du peopul da air Cohaagen!). Apparently the plot of this movie will stick much closer to the original Philip K Dick novel than the 90's movie did. The flick will be helmed by
Underworld director Len Wiseman. I don't have a lot of faith to be honest, but it's a decent cast. Let's see what he can deliver.
