There were rumors a wile ago that Martial artist star Donnie Yen was gonna join the cast in The Expendables 2, but eventually it didn't happen, here's why.

Here's what Donnie Yen said in an interview with ComingSoon:

"They wanted me to be in 'Expendables 2' but I just didn't feel the role clicked. I was flattered that I was approached by the producers but I just didn't see the role they asked me to do being that intriguing. I didn't really want to do it but I'm open for anything. Doing a movie is a stressful thing. You spend months of you life focusing into that one project and I want to make sure I do something I really like or I'm really passionate about."

Hopefully he will join Stallone and the crew in the third installment, you never know.

i'd like to see him as a villain in EX3 and having a rematch with Jet Li (they had a slo-mo showdown in 2002's Hero).

I can't [frick]ing stand this guys face. I can't put my finger on it, but something about his face annoys the [frick] out of me -- so I'm glad he said no.

@TelaVizion

I love Terry Crews (and the way Luke Cage is drawn now, Crews would definitely be my pick to play him -- no comedy please), but what little I saw of his character in the first movie made me glad he did not have a larger part.
