When
Creed II hit theaters last year, many fans felt as though it was a perfect capper for the whole
Rocky franchise. Rocky had reunited with his son, and Adonis had just met his firstborn, an ending which could have served as a very heartfelt close for the eight film series. But it seems as though Stallone has much more up his sleeve, and is already planning to meet up with his producers on a Rocky focused sequel.
In an interview with Variety, Stallone, who received an Oscar nomination for his turn in
Creed, talked about his lack of ownership with the Rocky property. He went on to talk about his "timely" sequel, which focuses on Balboa and a new immigrant fighter. Here is how he described the sequel:
Rocky meets a young, angry person who got stuck in this country when he comes to see his sister. He takes him into his life, and unbelievable adventures begin, and they wind up south of the border. It’s very, very timely. . . Do you tell someone that you just met in the street who’s struggling and homeless to get out, or do you take him in? If you take him in, you’re in trouble.
He went on to say that the sequel has the potential to be fast-tracked.
Would you be down for another Rocky?
