From Joystiq.com

As a promotion for Batman: Arkham City, DC and Warner Bros. are giving you the chance to read a Batman story in its natural habitat: comic books. A six-issue Batman: Arkham City miniseries will be available in stores and digitally starting in May, linking the storyline of Batman: Arkham Asylum to the new game.

Arkham Asylum and Arkham City (and Batman: The Animated Series!) writer Paul Dini is in charge of the comic, while Paul D'Anda, who did concept art for both games, will provide art for the monthly book. In addition, eight-page "digital-first" minicomics will link together each issue of the miniseries, allowing you to experience basically every minute of Batman's life between the first and second games. We look forward to the issue in which he's just sleeping, and Alfred takes the opportunity to do some Bat-laundry.

Batman: Arkham City is the upcoming sequel to action-adventure stealth video game Batman: Arkham Asylum, based on DC Comics' Batman for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows. It is being developed by Rocksteady Studios and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Comics.

The story for Arkham City takes place about eighteen months after the events of Arkham Asylum. Quincy Sharp, former warden of Arkham Asylum, has taken credit for stopping the Joker, and used that notoriety to become mayor of Gotham City.

As neither Arkham nor Blackgate Prison are in any condition to hold inmates, Sharp buys out a large section of Gotham's slums and arms the perimeter with private military contractors from a group called Tyger in order to create "Arkham City". The prisoners are brought into Arkham City and are given free rein, as long as they do not attempt escape. To oversee the city, Sharp hires psychiatrist Hugo Strange who appears to have his own secret agenda for the city. Batman maintains a vigil over the city, worried that the situation may get out of hand. Part of the setup for "Arkham City" was contained in plans in a hidden room in Sharp's office in Arkham Asylum.

Here's a preview of the art style for the upcoming comic.

This look is very similar to the character bio art in the first game which is great for consistency and also because the art style was fantastic!

We should have some unlockable costumes in the game though. I'd like to have the most recent costume in the game, which is damn cool!

@weneedrevelation i agree with the yellow being a "bullseye". I remember reading in one of the comics where it actually explained it being just that. A "Bullseye", to give the gunman something to aim at (armor) besides his unarmed face. Or it was worded something like that.

HEARTOFHUSH, You owe it to yourself to at least rent the first one. If you love Batman, you'll love the game.

I'm interested in this comic tie-in. I enjoyed this guy's art in the first game so seeing it in fully drawn stories should be cool. I'd also like unlockable costumes. Arkham City seems to be most of what I want in a Batman game. One of the few things I think is missing for my vision of a Batman game, is the ability to become your own Batman. Not just unlockable costmes, but that's great and would be an awesome thing to include. I think it would be great to really get to customize the appearance of your Batman, and things like his fighting style to an extent. Anyway, I'm not upset that Arkham City doesn't focus on this, because it looks amazing!
