Yelena Belova will make her big-screen debut in next year's Black Widow movie, but we may be seeing the character again a lot sooner than expected.
The Direct reports that Florence Pugh is set to reprise her role for the currently shooting Disney+ Hawkeye series. They don't have many details, but Belova is expected to "don a Ronin-inspired costume" similar to the one Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) wore in Avengers: Endgame.
Although Belova's role in the MCU moving forward has yet to be confirmed, the prevailing theory is that Natasha Romanoff's (Scarlett Johansson) fellow Red Room assassin will ultimately wind up taking on the Black Widow mantle following her "sister's" death in Endgame. If that is indeed the plan, it would make a certain amount of sense for her to cross paths with Barton at some point since he was so close to 'Tasha.
How much attention should you pay to this? Well, the source tends to share information from several different online "scoopers" (some of whom are more reliable than others), so it's difficult to gauge this rumor's validity. It also seems a tad strange that none of the trades picked up on what would be a pretty major bit of casting news.
We'll just have to wait and see. For now, be sure to share your thoughts on the prospect of Pugh returning as Yelena Belova for the Hawkeye series down below.
