SCARLET WITCH Rumored To Be Closing In On A Director; HAWKEYE Season 2 Reportedly Features Familiar Setting

According to a new rumour, Marvel Studios is finally on the hunt for a Scarlet Witch director. We also have news on Hawkeye season 2, including when it will be set and early plans for Barney Barton...

In WandaVision, Wanda Maximoff finally became the Scarlet Witch. However, her evolution ended on a tragic note when she was forced to drop the Hex around Westview and bid farewell to The Vision and her children, Tommy and Billy.

When we caught up with Wanda in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the Darkhold had corrupted the Avenger and she went on a rampage through realities to find Variants of her twin boys.

Verging on being a full-blown villain by the time all was said and done, Wanda eventually saw the error of her ways and appeared to bury herself beneath Wundagore. However, that was only after she'd used her powers to destroy every possible copy of the Darkhold in the Multiverse.

It's widely believed that Wanda found a way to survive and there's been chatter online about a Scarlet Witch movie for several months.

Today, scooper @MyTimeToShineH has shared an update claiming Marvel Studios is now looking for a director. That presumably means they have a script, and it's previously been reported that the plan is to get this project into theaters before Avengers: Secret Wars.

For now, though, Elizabeth Olsen seems eager to take a break from the MCU. "Specifically in the last four years, my output has been Marvel," she said last year. "I don’t want...it’s not that I don’t want to be associated as just this character. But I really feel like I need to be building other parts back up for balance."

"I so much want to do films right now. And I hope some of them come together in the way I feel like they can. But yeah, that’s something that I need. I just need other characters in my life," Olsen added. "There’s no longevity in one character."

Chances are that if the Scarlet Witch movie doesn't serve as Olsen's farewell to the character, then one of the next Avengers movies will.

We also have a Hawkeye season 2 update; apparently, the plan is for the story to once again take place during Christmas. The hope is to cast a "big name" to play Clint Barton's brother Barney (who is better known in the comics as Trickshot).

Back in February, Jeremy Renner addressed his MCU return when he said, "I'm always game. I'm gonna be strong enough, that's for sure. I'll be ready."

Probably unpopular opinion but if they do a scarlet witch movie then I feel it should have major connections to the MCU. Like the Hulk, my enjoyment of Scarlet Witch comes from seeing the consequences of her actions via other characters and the universe. Too much of her or the Hulk dilutes their efficacy.

Whedon used Hulk perfectly in avengers 1. Scarlet witch was terrifying in strange 2 as the villain. Wanda was great in her show because she is Wanda for 95% of it. A solo movie about Scarlet Witch might lose some of the magic no pun Intended

They could just get that guy who directed the first Wanda film, maybe even get the Strange fella to make another cameo again.

How does Disney even have any money at this point..

@Imprtracr1 - You see, they have a networth of 184 BILLION dollars, so that's how. That's basically infinite money.

You see, their parks alone made a record $32.5 billion dollars in revenue last year.

But this is primarily a movie site so let's focus on that.

In case you forgot, movies like Avatar 2, you can pretend it isn't Disney, but it is. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes? Number 3 movie so far at the box office, Disney.

Then of course you look and realize, Disney has a stacked summer this year with Inside Out 2, which is tracking for an 85Million opening weekend, meaning it will be the highest opening weekend this year beating Dune 2 and Godzilla x Kong. It will probably be short lived though as Deadpool x Wolverine will be coming out and jeez, that's a Disney movie! Let's not forget the rest of the year we have Moana 2 and Mufasa.

There's an old saying "follow the money" And look at that, Wall Street is looking at 2026 to be the first 10 Billion dollar year at the box office, a threshold they've been trying to pass since the pandemic, and who does Wall Street think is going to lead that charge? You guessed it, Disney.

To be fair, Disney+ is the weak link, but it looks like it will actually make a profit by end of the year, though not enough to recoup it's overall 11 billion dollars in losses, but the ship seems to be righted, for now.

I can go on and on, but I think I've answered your "how does Disney even have any money" question

@Imprtracr1 - by shutting down the Star Wars hotel experience they got a $300 million tax break that helped to nullify the losses of recent Marvel movies.

@Imprtracr1 - So at the end of the day, your question/comment was just meant to be a wiseass crack, because once presented with an answer/evidence to the contrary of your question/statement is a simple "go ahead and buy then"

alrighty. Never said I was interested in buying, just gave you insight into your initial question.
Imprtracr1
Imprtracr1 - 6/3/2024, 1:21 PM
@SATW42 - Yes, it is absolutely me not giving any credibility to what you are saying as well as the joke of a stock valuation for Disney. Their leadership is a joke as has been their output for about 6 years now.

I do not value what you say, as I disagree with your assertion.

Take care?
SATW42
SATW42 - 6/3/2024, 2:31 PM
@Imprtracr1 - Just to be clear

"I do not value what you say, as I disagree with your assertion."

"they have a networth of 184 BILLION dollars, so that's how." - Fact, not an assertion

"You see, their parks alone made a record $32.5 billion dollars in revenue last year." - Fact, not assertion

"In case you forgot, movies like Avatar 2, you can pretend it isn't Disney, but it is. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes? Number 3 movie so far at the box office, Disney." - Fact, not assertion

"Then of course you look and realize, Disney has a stacked summer this year with Inside Out 2, which is tracking for an 85Million opening weekend, meaning it will be the highest opening weekend this year beating Dune 2 and Godzilla x Kong." - The tracking is what it is. It's hard to say it's a "fact" but I don't even remember the last time tracking was wildly off for a movie nowadays.

"There's an old saying "follow the money" And look at that, Wall Street is looking at 2026 to be the first 10 Billion dollar year at the box office, a threshold they've been trying to pass since the pandemic, and who does Wall Street think is going to lead that charge? You guessed it, Disney." - I mean, this isn't MY assertion, this is me simply relaying what's out there.

As for how the market looks, also not my assertion, you asked a question you thought would be a gotcha, I did the research, came back with what the market is ACTUALLY saying, and not how you feel it's doing, and you didn't like the answer.

Enjoy your fantasy alternative fact delusions I guess. Always a damn superman avatar.

I just really hope that a Scarlet Witch movie includes Vision and doesn't forget about him the way DS2 did. I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm 100% invested in their romance like a 14 year old teenage girl watching the Vampire Diaries in 2009.

She deserved ZERO redemption. She murdered many innocent and good people. She doesn’t deserve redemption.

Same with Loki. Killed thousands of New Yorkers in Avengers and Colsen.
SATW42
SATW42 - 5/30/2024, 10:11 AM
@JobinJ - I mean, I guess technically, but since Coulson was brought back to life it's hard to say he killed him. Definitely attempted murder.

and then, and this is canon being shown on screen in Civil War, there were only 74 casualties in New York with that attack. Bad for sure, but not THOUSANDS. Also hilarious when you consider Graviks attack in Secret Invasion killed 2,000. Again, canon.

Matchesz - 5/30/2024, 10:22 AM
@SATW42 - 74 casualties is unbelievable, but not like the mcu is shooting for realism these days
ptick
ptick - 5/30/2024, 11:08 AM
@Matchesz - Welp, the 74 number was shown in Civil War, a movie most don't consider to be "these days" in the MCU. Gravik's attack, meanwhile, killing 2,000 was from "these days."
ptick
ptick - 5/30/2024, 11:19 AM
@JobinJ - I think it depends which Loki we're talking about. The variant from the Loki show seems to end up becoming legitimately reformed and fails a great many times at trying to save the multiverse before ultimately becoming the one who holds it together. He saves the entire multiverse in exchange for holding it together forever.

The main MCU Loki, on the other hand, consistently waffles back and forth between villainy and quasi-heroism, but never really learns his lesson, IMHO. He takes the Tessaract at the end of Ragnarok, after all, and only really tries to fight Thanos because there seems to be no other way out. His death, while meaningful to Thor, was in vain. It was ultimately for nothing and he helped create it by taking the Tessaract when it otherwise may have been destroyed on Asgard. This Loki only seems "redeemed" because the audience has a soft spot for him.

So, yes, somehow watching his potential future play out on a TV screen, meeting a female version of himself that he has the hots for, and finding a buddy in Mobius provides Loki with more real reformation than a character arc stretching from The Dark World into Infinity War. Go figure.

@Matchesz - these days? Bruce Banner is a guy who turns into a green monster when he gets angry in the second film of this franchise. I'm pretty sure "realism" went out the window from the jump with the MCU

MoM was a Scarlet Witch movie... they don't need another right now. Keep her schedule light by having her appear in other movies for small cameos... if she's not actually dead.
