BOX OFFICE: BIG HERO 6 Becomes Third Highest Grossing Disney Animation Movie Ever

Deadline reports that following a strong performance in China - a territory which is becoming more and more important to a movie's box office performance - Big Hero 6 has now crossed the $600 million mark worldwide with a current cume of $604.8 million (that's made up of $221.3 million domestically and $383.5 million internationally). That means it now sits behind Frozen and The Lion King as the third highest grossing Disney Animation release of all-time, and between this and its big awards season wins, you have to wonder how much longer it will be before a sequel is officially announced. The question is, will this level of success mean more Marvel properties get the animated treatment, and could the world of Big Hero 6 become part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe? It would certainly be interesting to see a live-action Baymax in Avengers: Infinity War...

Very entertaining flick, my nephews especially loved it. But that scene were Hito removes Baymax's care chip was startlingly dark.

I enjoyed this movie. I really want a Baymax. I wonder if this movie can hit the $700M mark and join TASM2, Cap 2, GOTG, and DOFP

@Jollem agreed. Hand-drawn animation is a dying art form.

You said it, Doom. Guys, someday you'll be a Dad, and watch Frozen with your kids, and discover it's just a good movie that holds up well with any of the Disney classics. Anyone who says otherwise is a teenager trying desperately to prove his manhood, or an adult who never grew up.

Hand drawn animation is still here, it's just not that popular as it use to be especially with the huge stride made in CGI. Japan still has a lot of hand drawn animation, just check out the movies made by Studio Ghibli. Every single one of them is a masterpiece!

Um, Disney still does hand-drawn animation. Tangled and Frozen both used hand-drawn animation mixed with computer animation. Hand-drawn animation is still alive, folks.

This movie was fantastic! Watching how Hiro learn to coup with grief was very sad and I swear I saw more adults sheeding tears at the theater then kids.
