Just an hour ago, DC Animation revealed who will voice Batman, Robin and Two-Face in their upcoming adaptation of Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns (click here for details). Now, The Hollywood Reporter has debuted a batch of new still photos from the two-part adaptation, which will be directed by Jay Oliva. These images include Batman (Peter Weller) and Robin (Ariel Winter), among others, and give us a first look at the animated style of the movie (as well as how closely it resembles the art in the novel). Check them out below:

The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1 will be available on DVD/Blu-Ray/Digital Download later this year, while Part 2 will be released early next year.

But they could work a little bit on the colors - the comics has a pastel palette!

First graphic novel I ever read. They did a short of this story during BTAS...Michael Ironside was the voice of Bats. " rubber bullets, honest"

Agree with Halfrican, it's way too clean and nice looking. This better not be super kid friendly, and I hopepart II is the 2nd one and not just the TDKR in two movies.

Not sure what I was expecting here, but I felt a little disappointed. Hard to translate something as iconic as DKR to a cartoon. I would be more excited about it if I had not seen Year One and been disappointed in that. Both of those books are just fantastic. If you've been reading them a long time, I think there is very little chance they live up to expectations. Might just have to love them for what they are or leave them be.

Yes I know its not Stephanie Brown. Its Carrie Kelley. I have the 4 comic books that the movie is based on. The one with the old Bruce right? I have not read them in a long time.

I like to think I'm a fairly well informed comic book geek like most of ya'll on here, but....WHEN DID THEY ANNOUNCE THIS?????!!!!!!!!!

Sorry.

I check this site pretty regularly and I must've missed this somehow. Anyways, on to the gushing...

OMG! This looks SO good! This was the VERY first Batman comic I ever read (when I was 16) and it made me a lifelong fan ever since. In fact, if it wasn't for this book, I probably wouldn't even be on this site now.

@DanteSparda-[frick] yeah! I'm with ya all the way! Please dont' change a [frick]ing thing as far as the story goes, PLEASE!!!!!!!

@Pux-Did I embarrass MYSELF? I feel like I have. lol

Oh, and to whomever said that the Batman: Year One adaptation was "disappointing"? Did we watch the same animated movie man? I thought it was spot on. Yeah, two different mediums so some things have to change, but still, made me feel like the comic had come to life. I dont' know. Maybe I'm wrong. It has been awhile since I've read that particular story. I used to have the leatherbound collected Frank Miller's Dark Knight Returns but like a dumbass, sold it when I was married, we had our first kid and money was tight. So now, I just own the tpb of Dark Knight Returns.

God, I tend to ramble. My point? An amazing cartoon in my opinion.

Wow@Robin

And of course it looks clean. It's not like they're going to animate with rough lines and dry colors. This will be a nice watch after TDKR, which I think is Nolan's version of this.

i thought After Batman Year One...they were going to continue with a sequel to it...kinda like TDK with the joker...i thought that was the plan...and the next movie...

but this is pretty cool...how many parts just 2 thats it? lame
but i read online that The Dark Knight returns is a four-issue comic book limited series comprising The Dark Knight Returns, The Dark Knight Triumphant, Hunt The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Falls.....pretty cool i guess..

I'm actually on the floor laughing at all these people who have no idea what this is.

Yes, Carrie Kelly is a girl. Deal with it.
and "Robocop" is actually the mutant leader (The Villain)

I guess there's a reason this is called Comic Book Movie dot com instead of Comic book dot com, No one has any idea what they're talking about.

I like the look. I agree with the little to clean look though. My perfect style would've been how they did the spawn hbo series.

Why do we (Americans) always exaggerate our animation's facial features?

I hate those big jaws.

Please have it be Anime instead.
