In this new animated short by DC, Jonah Hex is on the hunt for an outlaw named Red. Only to find out that the guy has been offed by a bar wench and her goons. Now in order to collect the bounty he must collect the dead body of the man and avoid becoming a dead body himself.
-Okay, let me start off by saying that Thomas Jane did a fantastic job voicing Jonah Hex. If they ever do anymore Jonah Hex animations I hope they bring him back.
-The action in this was pretty decent and definitely had the feel of a good western flick.
-My big complaint is I wish this damn short was a damn movie. Was not nearly long enough for me. It was over way too soon.
-Had some great lines/scenes in it. For example, when Linda Hamilton's character (sorry I don't remember her character's name) says to Jonah Hex,
"You wouldn't hit a lady, would you?" Jonah Hex replies, "You ain't no lady." Then BAM! Punch to the face! Awesome! There were other scenes like that.
-Another complaint was that the ending was predictable. I won't say it on here for those who haven't seen it, but I hate watching a flick and I can figure out how it's gonna end after a certain point. Sadly though, that's how most movies are anymore. So it wasn't enough to take away from the enjoyment of it.
-The animation was pretty good. Although, Jonah Hex didn't really have the trademark "eye" I have seen from the comics, but I'm not a big follower of the comic series so I dunno how he looks now a days.
Overall, fantastic short. If you haven't checked it out yet then you need to. With two successful shorts now (the Spectre being the other one) I fully look forward to more of these shorts and hope that they will eventually start producing longer storylines with the same quality. Basically, apply it to all of their animated movies, because some of their movies have come off as half-assed.
