DreamWorks is hoping that 2010 will be a better year. After a disappointing showing for Monsters vs. Aliens, its only 2009 release, DreamWorks is stacking the deck with three films in 2010, all in stereoscopic 3-D: Dragon, Shrek Forever After and Oobermind.
Oobermind tells the tale of a villain (Oobermind) who finally defeats his arch-enemy, the hero Metro Man, only to discover life is meaningless without the constant tête-à-tête, so he creates a new hero in Titan to replace him. However, when Titan decides it's better to be bad than good, Oobermind must switch sides and become a hero to defeat his progeny.
Originally offered to Robert Downey Jr., the role of Oobermind has now gone to Will Ferrell because of conflicts with Downey Jr.'s schedule. Other additions to the cast include Brad Pitt, who will voice Metro Man, the champion of good, with Jonah Hill voicing Titan. The trio of actors join Tina Fey, signed on to play a Lois Lane-esque character who reports on the city's superheroes.
Produced by Lara Breay and Denise Nolan Cascino, Oobermind is being directed by Tom McGrath and is scheduled for a fall 2010 release.
