Using Gamma energy, Hydra has accidentally created the creature of living electricity known as Zzzax! Can Iron Man & Hulk put aside their differences to stop it??

6 word review?
This movie's a piece of shit.

Hydra creates Zzzax by mistake, and Hulk and Tony must team up to stop it. There really isn't anything else to it than this other than a Wendigo appearance that will leave you scratching your head.

THE GOOD:
This movie does appear to take place in the MCU.
It is a Hulk and Iron Man movie.
There is a post-credits scene.
It is mostly coherent.

The BAD:

The story is so A to B I've almost given more detail in my above descriptions than the entire movie supplies.

The only side track from the main plot is when Hulk & IM fall out of one battle into a totally random cemetery and have to fight a bunch of Wendigos for absolutely no reason before they can jump back into the fight with Zzzax. I cannot stress how little sense this scene made.

The animation is horrifying. Other than the way the Hulk is shaded, which I thought looked decent. But they didn't even make enough mouth-animations to sync up the dialogue. Just so lazy.
The Abomination looks like he was taken out of a PS1 game, in fact, all of the characters are abysmal and consist of only 2 or 3 colours.
Iron Man looks okay, but then when you see him up close you'll realize there is no definition to the suit design and that it just looks sloppy.
This is especially painful when considering there only 8 characters in the entire movie. Hulk, Iron Man (face mask up and down), 2 Hydra Agents, Abomination, Wendigo, Zzzax and (SPOILER!) Red Skull in the end-credit scene. That's it. No SHIELD anyone, no other heroes, not even pedestrians with no dialogue! So lazy.

The dialogue that is there is also bad, I would compare it to the equivalent of a cut-scene on a child's PC game. Marvel also tries to sprinkle in some jokes like the other MCU movies since The Avengers, and these ones are the worst of the worst.
It also uses MCU's "intelligent" Hulk which I hated. Hulk is actually the one at the end that proposes the scientific method in order to defeat Zzzax, not Tony. No Bruce Banner in this one.

And did I mention there are no extra characters, no extra people in any capacity in the entire thing? 8 people start to finish (the Hydra agents are almost identical and Wendigo is just The Abomination with horns).

The post-credits scene is just Red Skull in a Hydra warehouse talking about how he will destroy Iron Man and Captain America in the presumable shitty sequel.

SCORE:

1/10

Just a holiday season cash grab and a piece of throw-away trash. I rank it on par with 1990 Captain America and the 1984 Supergirl movie. Movies don't actually get worse than this.
It is definitely the worst animated CBM to date that I have watched and rated thus far, including Superman: Unbound (3/10) and Batman/Mr. Freeze - Sub-Zero (2/10).

Thanks! I'll respond to comments in the usual place.

I was able to get a copy of this and couldn't even get past the Wendigo scene. "A piece of shit" is actually a compliment. This animation sucked so bad, I'd love to kick it in the nuts. I honestly can't understand how Marvel can make GREAT live action films but their animations are atrocious!!
In this department DC has Marvel beat EVERY time!
Oh my god -- this movie hurt so bad!

What indicates that it "takes place in the MCU" Are there any kind of direct references or connections?

I mean, most of the animations seem to be one-offs. It's curious that they would all of a sudden try to link this one to the MCU.

marcvader1 - 12/2/2013, 6:34 PM
Lol. New MCU movie. I think you need to be an actual MCU movie to be classified as such and this is not one. That's an insult to the crews and actors that have been involved in the MCU movies so far. I don't know what to classify this. It's an abomination.

Target audience isn't an excuse. There are countless animated movies for children that are fantastic. This is cheap, lazy garbage, the trailer along reeks of it.

@ nibs.
Dude, you seriously did NOT just criticize Sub-Zero and Unbound, did ya??!!?? I mean I knew from the start this movie was gonna be shit do I agreed with you on every letter in that review until the end where you DISSED the two movies I love. Maybe, yea Superman:Unbound wasnt all that but it was still good but Batman Mr.Freeze: SubZero????
Cipher's gf was right. Your taste IS shit!

Freek - 12/3/2013, 8:20 AM
No, i think you need to. How does someone find no interest in a story involving a man who turns to crime cuz of his cryogenically frozen wife. Did you see the chase scene between Robin and Mr. Freeze?? The ending?? Dude why am I even arguing with you about this? It's a straight-on brilliant movie? And if you don't like it, wtf do like?
Oh, and that's 7 words btw you ignorant [frick]!
Freek
Freek - 12/3/2013, 9:22 AM
@nibs
uhh...you gave the movie a frickin 2 out of 10 for not being well done?? Any sane intelligent life form would'nt thrash that movie like that. Not a movie that has so much. Were you drunk when you gave that score. What are your reasons? You still have not said any which evidently implies someone must've pissed you off or something the time you were writing this. What's heating me up is the fact that I have to argue about whether or not Sub-Zero is a good movie. What's next?? Maybe 6 years from now we will be arguing on how awful a movie the Avengers was? Human Beings make me sick.
Freek
Freek - 12/3/2013, 9:57 AM
@Fangz. Uh....what?
And I could'nt really care less for marvel's heroes united. Hated it from day one. Sub-Zero and Unbound are actually my concerns. But you know what? Whatever. Every man to his dumb-ass opinion.
ChrispyG
ChrispyG - 12/4/2013, 4:42 AM
Okay, AESTHETICALLY it might mimic the MCU, but in terms of true canon, it does not.

I mean, in minute 1 they say that Hulk is the result of an accidental explosion of a gamma bomb. That right there clearly isn't in line with what we saw in the opening of The Incredible Hulk.

Beyond that, Abomination from a design standpoint doesn't really fit, nor does the whole 'intelligent, talking Hulk' thing.

Just saying....
ChrispyG
ChrispyG - 12/4/2013, 4:47 AM
And there is the whole "Abomination has a Russian accent, not British" thing

I don't need to watch more than about 5 minutes to realize it's pretty much like all of the other animated films, essentially it's own things, even if it does try to have a few winks/nods/elements that mimic the MCU execution of the characters.

This was funny as hell. And I laughed out loud at your budget comment. Hilarious.

From the trailer this looked like dog shit.

Nice review.....LOL!

I'll still check this out. Marvel have lost the plot when it comes to animation. Hulk vs is still Marvel best work....story wise and animation.

Hopefully they'll start listening to fans.
