Robert Rodriguez to Shoot "The Jetsons" in 2010

Even though director Robert Rodriguez is currently working on a "Predators" reboot, a "Sin City" sequel, a "Machete" film, and a sci-fi thriller "Nerverackers," he is still trying to get a big screen adaptation of "The Jetsons" into theaters.

"I've been developing [The Jetsons] for awhile," Rodriguez told MTV News, adding that he's hoping to start shooting "next year." Rodriguez went on to confirm that the film would be live-action, but declined to drop any hints about the plot or potential casting choices.

Adam F. Goldberg (Fanboys) penned an early draft of the script, which is currently being re-worked. "We're writing the script right now," Rodriguez said excitedly.

I always thought it be a great idea bring this cartoon to life, ever since I watched the "Fifth Element" and so how much work they put into making that movie...but CGI techonolgy today has gotten much superior...totally believable....if they made this.

Who would of known, a 24 episode cartoon from 1962-1963 would turn into a series of more cartoons for the later 80s....I remember watching this on cartoon network before it went gay.

a live action Jetsons.....HELLZ YEAH!

The effects would be amazing. I think that it shouldn't be as realistic as possible like a bunch of movies these days. Make it kind of realistic, but leave the sense of a retro-future. Kind of bright and friendly. Kind of like Speed Racer, but not in a blatantly obvious way.

It'll be hard to pull off, but Rodriguez has always had a knack for pulling off the unthinkable.

And if for some reason this movie totally bombs...there's always the Boomerang Channel ^_^

I like this idea!

Hawk says 10 to 1 they will cast Adam Sandlar or Will Ferrel as George. He also says Danny Devito for Mr. Spacley.

Rodriguez does NOT have a knack for pulling off the unthinkable, he has a TALENT for making wonderful movies for adults, and it's a damn shame that he wastes so much time making movies for kids. In a way I appreciate it, because I think it's kind of sweet that he's feeding the younger demographic in an earnest, not-out-to-get-your allowance kinda way. But on the other hand, the movies are crap if you're over 12, and I'd much rather see Sin City 2 :(

Dude somebody ought to tell Rodriguez to stop eating shit and to get to work on his next movie! And if he has time to talk shit then there should be no excuse on why his next endevour which is Red Sonja shouldnt be a blockbuster hit.

Rodriguez made Sin City. Thats the only nice think i can say about that [frick]ing hack that couldnt pace or structure a movie to save his cowboy hat wearing(not that theres anything wrong with that!) bonce. So bring on the poxy Jetsons, itl just be one more pile for the heap.

a live action Jetsons movie could be a lot of fun, but I've got a bad feeling they'll screw it up somehow. Phoenix is right- they'll probably cast Will Ferrell as George. Worse yet, they'll put that stupid Orbity or whatever its name was in it. Damn, that thing was annoying! Astro was one of the very few "comedy relief" characters that actually worked. He didn't need help in that department.
