INCREDIBLES 2 Taking Aim At A Heroic $140 Million Opening Weekend; New International Trailer Released

Pixar delivered in a huge way last year with the Oscar-winning Coco and things are looking good for the studio again this summer as Incredibles 2 looks set to debut with an impressive $140 million haul.

Believe it or not, it was back in 2004 that The Incredibles was released (that's the same year Spider-Man 2 swung into theaters) and the movie exceeded expectations at the time with a whopping $660 million worldwide. Now, the sequel has hit tracking boards and it looks like it should debut in North America with at least $140 million. That's an impressive haul and one which points to it being a hit.

Last month, it was revealed that the Incredibles 2 teaser was the most watched animated teaser of all-time with 113 million views in 24 hours. Awareness for the film is currently at 96% and seeing as the marketing campaign has barely kicked off, that's an incredible start and one which bodes well for Pixar.

Due to the World Cup, the sequel won't hit a number of international locations until July, so it will be a while before we find out whether or not Incredibles 2 manages to surpass the $660 million made by its predecessor. In the meantime, you guys can check out a fun new trailer for the sequel down below.

I think that, if this one is great and gets really strong reviews, which is likely, considering Brad Bird's track record with animated movies (Iron Giant, The Incredibles and Ratatouille), it could open at $150-160 million or maybe more. If it weren't for Jurassic World coming out the weekend after, I could see this outgrossing Frozen at the global box office. This is my most anticipated film for the rest of the year.

Haven't had an ounce of hype for this one but I'm almost happy to have it that way, let it surprise me opening night.
