INCREDIBLES 2 Has Passed The One Billion Mark At The International Box Office

Fourteen years later, the Parr family is still kicking butt at the box office, doing significantly better than with Incredibles 2 than its predecessor. The sequel, which more than doubled the original when it came to their opening weekends, continues to prove their power as an intellectual property. Over the past few days the animated film has hit another milestone, one that only a few in the genre have achieved.

With under two months in cinemas, Incredibles 2 has already joined the billion dollar club, joining the likes of Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War as Disney's 2018 representatives. The film is the fourth to reach the landmark this year, with Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom being the only non-mouse house flick to hit the goal.

Currently the film stands as the seventh highest grossing animated film of all time overall. At this pace the film will likely join the top five. When it comes to films in general, the feature may become part of the top 25, due to its chances of hitting $1.1 billion.

I was entertained from start to finish, but it comes no where close to the first one. The stakes in the first one were so much more grand. This one felt like a tv episode.

@NOVAtheSUPA - The villain was the biggest problem I think. It just felt like there was no threat. Syndrome was inviting superheroes to his island and killing them off one by one, tortured Mr. Incredible, unleashed a killer robot on a city, and even threatens the life of an infant. That's some dark shit.

This villain wanted to what, give superheroes some bad rep? Doesn't exactly live up lol.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - She believed that the existence of super heroes led to people not being as dependent on local law enforcement and other systems like that, and wanted to force heroes back into hiding by mind controlling them into turning on everyone. I do agree that it was far smaller scale than the first film, though.

My second fave movie this year so far after Infinity War. It just brought a massive smile to my face. It was well worth the wait that's for sure!

Passing one billion dollars is starting to feel like a moot point.

@MosquitoFarmer - Considering only two movies last year did, I'd say it's still a notable accomplishment.

Doesn’t change the fact that I think Holly Hunter voicing Elastigirl is still unfitting

Pixar is really putting dc to shame. Their able to make superhero movies that have heart and soul, unlike the dour MOS and BVS. More original superhero stories need to be told to break marvels strangle hold on the market. Theres room for really creative writers to conceive something wholly unique, they just need the balls to do it.

@Presto76 - DC has made a lot of films and TV shows with heart and soul. Don't lump in Snyder's messes with the overall quality of work that DC has done through the years.
