The Simpsons Take A Swipe At Disaster Prone Musical, Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark!

On last night's episode of The Simpsons, the long running series took a humorous swipe at the accident prone musical, Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark. Check it out...

Back when Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark opened up to a series of negative reviews, press rep Rick Miramontez responded by lashing out at the critics and calling them, "unprecedented and UNCOOL!" Well, when last night's episode of The Simpsons decided to take yet another swipe at the unlucky musical (which is now performing much better) he responded somewhat differently. "Everyone at Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark was extremely flattered by last night's tribute on The Simpsons. The Simpsons is an iconic American institution, and being part of last night's episode was an honor and dream come true." Thanks to TMZ for that and the following video.

Anyone else remember when the Treehouse of Horror episodes were based on tales of horror? Last night we had parodies of Avatar, 127 Hours (?!?), and The Diving Bell and the Butterfly.

What a crappy show this has become.

Brilliant... all you Simpson haters are just geeks that think you're too cool and popular to like The Simpsons anymore. Surprising how quickly peeps can turn their backs on this amazing show. Long live the original family fun cartoon...The Simpsons!

@ironknight:
you right, this site is full of Haters and nolanite's !

is actually a decent show, the predecessor of all those shows like Family Guy (stupid) and South Park (hilarious) and although The Simpsons are not as popular as they once were, still pretty decent.

Yep, South Park owned it.
(Take your girlfriend to a musical - well worth the effort!)

The rest of the episode was actually pretty funny, the Avatar parody was the best part.

I wish the Simpsons would get back to SCARY Halloween episodes, it's all non-scary parodies these days.

We haven't turned our back on the Simpsons. It turn its back on us. I want to like it, but I just can't anymore. Sure I'll watch if it's on, but I used to watch every day when it was on. Now it's an "if I have nothing better to do" situation.

The Simpsons today should be compared to an aging football star, like Jerry Rice. Rice, in his Oakland years, was a few steps slower than he was in his 49er heyday. He was still a great player and could still make a difference in games. The Simpsons is a lot like that. The first nine or ten seasons established a level of greatness the likes of which we may never see again. It has lost a few steps over the years, but it's still consistently clever, and is still good for at least a few really good laughs per episode. The problem is that people expect the show to live up to the standards of those early seasons. That's just impossible. I enjoy the Simpsons today for what it is- an aging series that is still as enjoyable to watch as anything else out there.

That said, I do wish the TOH would go back to parodying horror movies, or at least movies that fit into a Halloween atmosphere.

"Portionate strength of a paralyzed spider" and "I wish I could move like him" lines were funny, the farts and ass webs though... >__>

Never would've guessed this was one of the Treehouse of Horror parodies, what happened to the actual "horror"? I really have lost touch with this show...
