A lot of controversy has followed the cancellation news of Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes, a show regarded by many, as the pinnacle of Marvel animation in terms of story and direction.

And according to TVbythyenumbers, the show has done extremely well in 2012, in fact it was the most watched animated series for DisneyXD.

The show, as mentioned, has been cancelled by the network in favor of a new Avengers animation, Avengers Assemble, which will debut later this year, which seem to have a higher budget and more fluid animation ,according to the show runners.

The article also shows that Avengers EMH has done better than the Ultimate Spider-Man animated series, the latter has also been doing quite well as it is the highest watched show for young boys of 6 to 11 years old.

It was, however, in Jeph Loeb's selfish nature to cancel it. I just...I just don't get it.

And yet it got canceled. I don't understand Marvel and DC canceling their best shows on tv.

As a lot of people suspected, DisneyXD/Loeb & Quesada lied about the ratings of EMH in order to justify canceling the show. They kept insisting that USM had higher ratings yet they refused to release the raw numbers. Loeb was determined to get rid of that show so he could replace it with one he created. He's a hack, plain and simple. How he still has a job in the television industry is a mystery.

"Marvel’s “The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes”“ is Network’s #1 Animated Series in Total Viewers"

"Disney XD rocketed to its biggest year in the network’s history (including its 10 years as Toon Disney) with solid ratings from its growing array of original series -- most notably its top three live-action comedies , “Lab Rats,” “Pair of Kings” and “Kickin’ It” – in addition to the hit Marvel animated series “The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes” and “Ultimate Spider-Man.” Yearly ratings records were achieved in both Prime and Total Day in Total Viewers and all key kid and boy demographics, 2-11, 6-14, 6-11 and 9-14, rising by solid margins over year-ago results."

@marvel72 - I completely agree in regards to your anger with Wolverine and the X-men. That show had stupid amazing potential on top of the already incredible platform it was built on. That was the series that finally got my wife OBSESSED with X-men.

I understand the desire to branch out into the film noir with Avengers Assemble. I get that the GotG and Thanos and everyone else they want to hit on with the merchandise is a key point with the new series. What I hope they DON'T do is insult the fans by dropping the quality of the show. EMH is strong due to its strong tie to the comics and because of that, it appeals to the young and older fans. Don't pull a DC and cancel Young Justice for another joke of a show in Teen Titans..

And Ulitmate Spiderman is an awesome fun show.

Yet they still canceled it....morons. I'm interested to know how Young Justice and Green Lantern will rank on Cartoon Network.

Are they keeping the steaming pile that is Ultimate Spiderman, or are they dling us a favor and flushing it?

Yea, canceling Wolverine and the X-men was bad idea as well, that was right up there with the '90s version of the show.

I'm rewatching the series, and am so pissed at what Loeb did with season two and the cancellation. I seriously am never going to give Marvel any of my money because of this crap. Also really messed up how now everything has to follow the movie... it was good but not that good! Never thought I could hate Marvel but it's looking that way on many fronts...

"...a show regarded by many, as the pinnacle of Marvel animation in terms of story and direction." ...? I thought we were talking about EMH, and not Wolverine and the X-Men.

I really don't care about the budget and fluid animation unless it actually all pertains to some good stories. I was looking forward to what EMH had to offer but of course like every toon I end up enjoying... it gets canned. It's a shame to actually see that it was doing well but tossed to the side for something a bit more pollished. Since the new show hasn't started I can't really bicker too much but I sure as hell hope it was worth it!

For christ sake the show ended not cancelled ended. 52 episodes is standard for kids tv. I miss the [frick] out of it.

It WAS cancelled. They had a huge amount of plans for Season 3, as shouldve been obvious enough just by the show and everything that was left unresolved (Surter for one). It was also mentioned by Josh Fine and Chris Yost, along with quite a bit of artwork in preparation for the inclusion of the X-Men and other heroes. It was going to be a season of magic and would have been immaculate.

However, it was cancelled to me when they threw out Yost and Fine for ManOfAaction and Loeb. Hated the changes to storytelling, intro, replacing Josh Keaton as Spidey for the stupid kid from Nickelodeon, etc. Seeing as Avengers Assemble will change Hawkeyes costume and other "movie" tweaks, I'm not holding my breath for anything great. I wouldnt be surprised if they made it a joke like Ultimate Spider-Man or the upcoming Hulk & Agents of S.M.A.S.H. I pray I'm wrong...

No faith left in Comic Animation... Legend of Korra is my last hope for American Animation since ThunderCats and Young Justice are gone too.

This should not have been canceled. It's as simple as that.
