BEN 10 Creators Confirm Live-Action Movie Plans; Script Is In The Works

A while back we heard that Joel Silver had signed on to produce an adaptation of the very popular cartoon for the big screen, now the show's creators give us a few updates..

We heard some time ago that Joel Silver - producer of, among many others, Sherlock Holmes, V For Vendetta, and the Matrix trilogy - had signed on to develop a live-action feature film based on Cartoon Network's Ben 10 sci-fi franchise, with an eye toward distribution through Warner Bros. All has been quite since, but MTV caught up with the show's crators and they offered a few updates..

Says Duncan Rouleau..

"We’ve met with Silver a couple of times but it’s very early in the development stages to really discuss it any further than that. Other than we are also equally as excited by the prospects."

Steven Seagle adds..

"It’s a live action film as far as we know. They’ve commissioned a script, which is exciting and we had a lot of cool conversations with Joel Silver the time we met with him about even which version it’ll be, what aliens kids like, and it’s super fun. But it’s super early, so not a lot has been firmly decided."

I have never watched the show myself, but my Niece and Nephew rave about it. Is there any appeal for adults or is this one kids only? Would a live action adaptation be something you guys would look forward to? Sound off below.

I like the original Ben 10 show,it was funny and action packed. then they ruined with the sequels.
and the concept is pretty cool too. if something,a big budget live-action movie could be an awesome display of special effects and super powers: you got the fire alien, the water alien, the flying alien, the Hulk-like alien, etc.

It's What Green Lantern wished it would be and probably will make twice as much as GL at the box office with a decent budget. Made for kids and kids love it, fanboys not invited to the party.

Speaking of fanboys, there's a Star Trek 2 update knocking around somewhere for you to give out about.

There has already been 2 live action made-for-tv films of Ben 10. The first was directed by Bill S. Preston Esquire.

As long as it gets made with affection and heart then good luck to them.

Never watched the show, but it looks very uninteresting IMO. Could care less about a live action movie.

It's a just kids show.
It's been done but Joel Silver knows a goldmine when he sees it:

I hope they do a live adaptation on either Ben 10 Alien Force or Ultimate Alien.

They should use motion capture to make the aliens more vivid in the same way that Joss Whedon did with Mark Ruffalo in order to create the Hulk.

Ben 10 has a Huge audience. If the producer plays to the fan base, kids and the parents that take them, they will have a moneymaker and profitable sequels. If they try to adapt it, shift it, make-it-believable, or real-world it, the whole ensuing mess will suck and be banned to the Black Hole of Calcutta for all eternity.

PLEASE...Man of Action...don't let some knothead with dollar signs in their eyes do what Shamalywhatever did to Aang and company. The characters of Ben, Gwen, Grandpa, and...even Vilgax deserve better. If its not gonna come out right PULL THE PLUG!!!

As a live action movie it has outstanding potential to be a moneymaking project and great addition to the Ben 10 Universe. Good luck and Do the right thing.

For reference: my 5 year old loves all three animated shows. He's played, and beaten, the Wii Ben 10. His favorite characters are Spidermonkey, Big Chill and Way Big. We watch the shows together sometimes and his 15 year old brother, and visiting buddies, will almost always stop and watch with him. Ben 10:Ultimate Alien is the most requested. Go get 'em
