DRAGON BALL SUPER: New Rumors Swirl Around The Anime's Possible Return This July

A plausible new rumor concerning the return of Toei Animation's Dragon Ball Super says that animators have been working on the show since October and that new episodes will begin airing in July.

This April, Dragon Ball will be celebrating its 30th Anniversary. Will that be the time when news of Dragon Ball Super's continuation is revealed?

Back in January, Dragon Ball Super was inadvertently revealed to be back in production when a press release Toei Animation sent out for NAPTE (National Association of Television Program Executives)  stated that they were looking for licensing partners. Toei eventually went on to claim that the press release was inaccurate but the damage was already done.

Now, popular online anime and Dragon Ball social media personalities are all stating that their separate sources believe that Dragon Ball Super will be returning in July and that the official announcement will be unveiled in April as part of the franchise's 30th Anniversary celebration.

Man I sure hope so. Super started out slow but the Goku Black, Tournament of Power arcs and Broly were awesome.

@Reeds2Much - Are you kidding? Moro literally sucked all the Super Saiyan out of them and left them powerless. They met their actual kryptonite for the first time in forever but that's no big deal, sure okay. 😒

@BreakTheCode - no i read it. At this point its just a rumor, especially since its been stated there are no definitive plans to continue the anime.

Now i have no doubt that dragon ball will come back to anime. Its dragon ball. And the movie did crazy well. But to assume they made plans that quick in order to make enough episodes that they could confidently release it it july is pretty unlikely. Ill believe it when i see it.

@Origame - Thing is...it wasn’t quick. They’ve been working on it since last year. Super’s main problem was how rushed a job it was which started them off a bad schedule. With this, they’re taking their time with its announcement and release

I know I’m in the minority, but I found Super more engaging than anything Dragon Ball has done previously. I’ve never waited impatiently for episodes of any show like I did when the tournament of power was going on. I really hope they continue with the multiverse angle and Hit & Jiren are reoccurring allies.

I think they're waiting for the manga to get a strong head start before they resume the anime. It's possible they could adapt the DBS Broly movie in the meantime but I don't see the point, it's perfect as it is.

@Argetlam22 - the downgrande in animation from the Resurrection F movie was already all kinds of messed up. I don't dare to imagine what a downgraded Broly arc would look like.
the new series/season should just start from after the ending of Broly.

@Spidey91 - I agree. No way adapting the DBS Broly movie for anime won't disappoint fans. But July will give the writers and artists plenty of time to publish a couple more chapters so animators can do their job more efficiently. I can be patient that long. Or longer, if it means they do the series justice and keep up the mind blowing work we saw in the movie.👍

Hope so! I wanna see the Moro arc in the manga animated, after the Broly movie my hype and anticipation for more Dragon Ball content is off the charts!

@Dacci - at this point i think so .... red god mode gave beerus problems but i think it strongly depends on the anime or manga .... in the manga beerus handles like 4-5 God of destruction be himself but in the anime he power is lower .

I fear they'll adapt Broly into an arc and use the material that was left on the cutting room floor of the movie. They did the same with the previous 2 Super movies so it wouldn't be a stretch.

As a die hard dragon ball fan I never cared for super as the stakes were never that high imo (who has a tournament where no one is allowed to kill yet their universe is going to be “destroyed”!?) and the animation always felt cheap compared to dbz.

But after seeing Brolly I would love to see where they go. Also the new villain seems pretty badass!

@8thDoctor - I was watching it Hulu and they have s3 on it but only in English subbed. I had no idea the English dub is out! I figured if it was it’d be on Hulu but very happy to be proven wrong!

My buddy who introduced it to me said the Japanese voices are top notch but one doesn’t simply change how they view a show that easily Lol
