When Pokemon: Detective Pikachu's first trailer dropped, fans were ecstatic. No one expected the seamless blend and world building the promotional material provided. Not only was the quirky, fun tone connecting with audiences, but the expansive world it teased was getting great word of mouth as well. The opening minute of the trailer briefly touched on the life of being a Pokemon Trainer, and it seems as though we will be getting an in-depth look at that life if the latest Pokemon rumor proves true.
According to We Got This Covered, Legendary Pictures is in the early stages of developing a film based on Pokemon Red and Blue, both of which were initially released in 1996. The adaptations are based the original games the brought Pokemon to life, and the catalyst that turned them into the cultural staple they are today.
If this is true, speculation points to a Rocky-esque narrative about an underdog making his way towards the top, exploring the Kanto region and the first generation of Pokemon. To be fair, isn't that the Pokemon movie we've wanted all along? If this were to come through and done correctly it would be a massive crowdpleaser for audiences, leaving a ton of potential for Legendary's PCU (Pokemon Cinematic Universe.)
