Deadline is reporting that Robert Ben Garant - best known for co-writing Night At The Museum - has been set by Disney to pen an adaptation of Tuxedo Gin, a Japanese graphic novel which follows a street fighter who's reincarnated into a penguin. Titled Tux, the movie will be produced by Principato-Young's Paul Young and Peter Principato, VIZ Media's Jason Hoffs, and Shogakukan's Ichiro Takase.

Below is the plot synopsis...

The protagonist is a young street fighter who falls into a coma and learns that he has lived his life so selfishly that he only has enough karma points to be reincarnated as an animal 15 pounds or less. Trapped in the body of a chin-strap penguin, he tries to overcome the humiliation and rack up enough good deeds to get his old body back and save the girl he loves.

Honestly, compared to stuff like "the Smurfs", that sounds like a pretty fun concept for a children's film.

Sounds like it could be really fun and refreshing or incredibly stupid.

Hoping for the latter because it's really about time for the kids of this generation to some bold and original movies to hit the screen. So sick of predictable, formulaic, intellectually insulting poison like The Smurfs being spoonfed to them every year. They deserve better.
