Possible New ANT-MAN Story Details; Will 'Hope Van Dyne' Suit Up As 'The Wasp'?

Some new plot details for Ant-Man have seemingly found their way online, and they go some way in answering our lingering questions about the movie, including whether or not we'll see Evangeline Lilly's Hope Van Dyne as The Wasp and the fate of Janet Van Dyne...

Badass Digest have clearly been privy to Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish's Ant-Man script as they reveal more details about the upcoming movie in a report on Evangeline Lilly's Wasp-like haircut seen earlier today for the first time. Though the site cautions that they have not seen the most recent draft since Peyton Reed joined as director and Adam McKay and a number of other writers did some rewrites, the original version did not have Hope getting involved in any sort of superheroing dutues, adding that any recent changes likely wouldn't have altered that as: "I suspect that the large adjustments to VFX would make that unlikely." Of course, Ant-Man could end with Lilly deciding to (presumably) follow in her mother's footsteps by becoming The Wasp and fighting crime alongside Hank Pym's predecessor, Scott Lang. Talking of Janet Van Dyne, the site claims that the previous drafts of the movie say only that she is "gone" and not dead. Intriguing, wouldn't you say? Keeping the focus on Lang makes sense for now, but it seems like a missed opportunity if Marvel Studios don't bring one of their best female sueprheroes to the big screen!

I'm pretty shaky about Badass Digest at the moment, but I'd like to see her suit up.

Oh, First.

Badass Digest is legit. TheWrap, /Film, other trades confirms that as so. Makes sense since all of Wright's pre-visualization didn't include Wasp and the film is only less than a year from release.

You can't include those visuals when they were already made and finished before Peyton Reed took over the director's chair.

"Hope" Van Dyne.

uhg.

Is she from that "ultimate" universe also? 'cause then people can say, "SEE?!! It's based on the comics too!"

They're teasing Wasp for a sequel. Does that mean:

Ant-Man: Giant Man
Ant-Man: My Name is Kunu

I never thought that Jan would be dead. When we heard of Michael Douglas telling a bit of Ant-Man I think people read into it too much that Jan was dead.

But I'd be very happy if Evangeline Lily is Wasp at least, be it Hope or Jan, she'd still be perfect.

Marisa Tomei as Janet van Dyne would be amazing.

Just some 11th hour fancasting.

I still don't like hank being thrown into the background never liked lang in the comics! Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne are much more interesting in the comics than Scott Lang !..

I guess that's even more proof that Wright's version didn't have Wasp in it or better yet her suiting up
That's why I feel wright leaving was actually a good thing

So, in other words, neither Lang or Dyne will be suiting up in Avengers 3.

Edgar writght didn't want the Wasp in his film ??

I'm more than glad he's gone now and away from his "beloved" script that took more than 6 years ???

let's wait and see what's the new version of Ant Man

(I want Pym as AntMan tho....)

@JoJo1982

Wasp likely wasn't ever in the script. Joss Whedon said he was going to introduce the Wasp in the first Avengers movie but had to cut her at the last second, which means Marvel likely had no prior plan for her.

I wouldn't be shocked if he tries again in Age of Ultron.

Yes so there's still hope for Jan as the wasp and given all the speculation about hope suiting up as the wasp she might be the red queen in the movie so all that mess about her becoming the mcu wasp can finally be put to rest;Btw I'm not jumping to conclusion I'm just saying that knowing how marvel handles important characters and then fixing them later(coulsen in avengers, now he's alive in avengers,Trevor as the mandarin but he's not because there really is a mandarin etc)so there just may be hope for Jan yet

JFSHKJHFSHFGDJSKHUE Badass Digest are hacks and Devin Faraci is a jerk and I hate them and we should never run any of their scoops ever again!

Oh wait, their reputation is actually pretty legit? They're no more and no less reliable than most other sites? CBM.com actually runs their scoops practically all the time? Carry on, then.

@Ezio you really don't know how wrong you are, a majority of comicbookfans tricking adore hank pym, even DC fans like the original ant man dude.why do you think there is so much tricking backlash toward this movie really? No one(not counting GA) wants to see a movie about Scott Lang period.Common sense should tell you this movie will be a bash to marvel fans the way Edgar wrote this, now its likely to change because Peyton reed said he's a huge ant man fan so all we can do is hope that he respects the source material
RobertLiefeld
RobertLiefeld - 8/21/2014, 11:28 AM
Hopefully, the movie ends with a very large title screen making an apology to all the fans for the bastardization of the source material and the horrid movie they just paid way too much for. Then the post scene credits could be a Young Hank and Janet coming to the future with the time gem and shooting Scott Lang and Hope in the heads, grotesquely disfiguring their faces like Team America World Police, because they were hydra agents, then Hank and Janet decide to stay in the future and join the Avengers.
