It's not all bad news for the sequel to the billion-dollar grosser Aquaman. The Lost Kingdom dropped just 29% in its second weekend, the second smallest drop for a DCEU movie.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom grossed $19.5 million in its second weekend; which is more than The Flash's $15.1 million, The Marvels' $10.12 million, and Shazam! Fury of the Gods' $9.34 million. Aquaman also posted the second-best smallest drop for a DCEU movie, just behind 2018's Aquaman.
Aquaman has also grossed $258.27 million worldwide at the box office. This has overtaken The Marvels by over $58 million in JUST 9 DAYS. It proves that the DC name still has some drawing power as it's outgrossed the latest Marvel movie in its first 9 days.
The Jason Momoa-led movie seems to be holding on well due to the Holiday season, so it'll be really interesting to see how well the movie will do after the holidays are over. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom grossed a little over $38 million over 3 days in China, which is easily one of the stronger openings for a Hollywood blockbuster overseas. The Lost Kingdom potentially has another $30 - 50 million from China to be added, according to Insiders. This could lead the second Aquaman movie to a strong(ish) $400 - 500 million worldwide.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom's $19.5 million saw the movie drop just 29.5%; this is the 100th smallest drop of all time! And the smallest drop for a Comic Book movie this year!
