Has Joss Whedon revealed the answer to the question of who creates Ultron in Avengers: Age of Ultron?

A couple days ago the teaser shown at SDCC to accompany the revelation of the Avengers sequel being titled Avengers: Age of Ultron was released online (Praise God from whom all blessings flow!). Having watched both versions of the footage (normal and HD) I think there is a dual purpose to the footage besides revealing that Ultron is the main antagonist for the Avengers sequel.

As many of you know soon after Ultron was revealed to be the main antagonist in Avengers: Age of Ultron it was also revealed that Hank Pym is not the creator of Ultron for the film. This has led to much speculation about who exactly is the father of Ultron. However, after viewing the footage for myself it is my personal speculation that not only was it revealed that Hank Pym is not the creator of Ultron, but the creator of Ultron is actually revealed.

As is shown in the footage the Iron Man helmet is repeatedly hit until it transforms into Ultron's head. I believe that this is a major clue revealing that Iron Man is the creator of Ultron. If the creator was anyone else then the footage would somehow be different.

So, if this is true then what does it mean? First of all I am hoping that this may mean that if Joss Whedon kills anyone in Avengers: Age of Ultron it will be Iron Man making the Avengers sequel the familiar creator dying-at-the hands-of-the-creation story similar to what took place in Frankenstein. However, if Iron Man survives then there should be an Iron Man 4 so we can see Stark truly struggle with his decision to create Ultron. Then finally if Tony does not give up being Iron Man as a result of all this then I hope that this will lead to the Civil War arc making its way to film.

We pretty much all assumed this already.

"then there should be an Iron Man 4 so we can see Stark truly struggle with his decision to create Ultron."

So IM3 but instead of N.Y Ultron. ;)

Not really a big surprise, people have been speculating it was gonna be Stark that creates Ultron seeing as how he did create a sentient armor with the Mark 42 in Iron Man 3

Ummmm.......you really, actually posted something that obvious? Really?

And if anything, it's a little TOO obvious, which is why I am not so sure about it.

And no, Whedon has never said it's Stark. He only said it wasn't Pym.

As far as I can remember, nobody has said on the record that it IS Stark but there has been a lot of intimations from various different people involved with Marvel and all of them pointed that same way.

Stark creates Ultron. That is the only legit reason for him to put on the suit again and return the Avengers. Only if it's really personal and he feels that he should. I know I sound like an ***hole here, but I want Cap to die instead. Somebody is definitely biting the bullet though in this movie.

Yeah...sigh...This is just gonna be like the first avengers...another excuse to have the main arc and all the character development go to Iron Man at the expense of the rest of the cast...

This is what I think:

Tony turns JARVIS into a robot instead of just a voice. Then SW and QS appear (they are probably Inhumans, I guess their origin will be teased at the GotG post-credit scene) and they attack the Avengers. Wanda's magic does something to JARVIS, he becomes the evil Ultron and turns against the Avengers. After that they realize that Ultron is too powerful and they need some help so they ask Maximoffs to join the team and then there is an EPIC fight!

But this is a little bit too obvious, I'm not Joss Whedon, I'm not writing movie scripts, I'm just speculating!

Really good insight...

Just a little slow on the uptake...even without seeing the footage we already knew this...

Good effort though....NOT!

He's not the creator. I've said it before and I'm saying it again. Marvel said The Winter Solider is the most important lead into Avengers 2. If Stark is the creator, wouldn't IM3 be the most important?

Not only is it Tony Stark that creates Ultron but I can say with near certainty how it will go down in the movie.

Tony has quit being Iron Man, but SHIELD believes the Iron Man is vital to protecting the world and asks him to come back. Instead he builds a new technology that is an improvement over the self sustained suits in IM3 because it can think and learn. Ultron begins as good, doing it's job, but starts to understand things wrong, goes rogue and the Avengers are brought in to stop it. Tony feeling responsible again takes up the title of Iron Man.

Bickering and squabbling occur, Cap and Thor get overlooked in favor of Widow, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, Iron Man is again the centerpiece who saves the day and there is Avenger: AOU

How many times are people going to repeat the same stupidity? First of all everyone has already assumed this to be the case with Stark as the creator, secondly he is signed on for avengers 3. Rdj woulfnt sign on to do something dumb like flashback or ghost scenes, it wouldnr make sense

i guess all the bitching over ironman 3 not one person actually payed attention to the end...
tony stark will return...
he perfected extremis to remove it from pepper
he had the shrapnel removed from his chest and no longer needs an arc reactor
he says its not the suit that makes the man
"after all, I.... am iron man"
if anyone knows the comics or has seen the cartoon of extremis you will realize that tony has implanted the suit inside of himself, so the next time we see iron man it will be tony, NOT a suit. he makes himself a super by having the "armor" become part of him. it literally grows out of his arms and whatnot like the guyver or spawn.

ultron is most likely an amalgamation of parts from the destroyed suits from ironman 3.
james spader is another badguy along the lines of obadiah stain, justin hammer and aldrich killian. he probably made off with the parts the same way people got their hands on the chitauri tech(ambiguously written.
i dont really know if they are going to use a corrupted version of jarvis AI that ultimately becomes ultron or if james spader puts on the ultron armor and goes batshit
either way it will make a billion dollars

My thoughts is that Shield creates ultron as part of there phase 3 (or 2 whatever you prefer) it would make sense, with the avengers disbanded they want to create there own superhero so they make ultron, ultron goes evil and then the angers have to reassemble to kick some robot ass.

Wow some of you guys can be real jerks.

@MrReese: The pain that I want Tony to feel in Iron Man 4 is so much worse than the comedic PTSD moments in IM3. I want the guilt of creating Ultron to absolutely crush him just like it does Pym in the comics. This pain could manifest itself in extreme alcoholism, but I want to see Tony in a legitimate sorrowful state. In other words gone is the prideful playboy and in its place is a man who is utterly broken in spirit.

By the way this is my first time seeing the teaser guys. If I had seen it at Comic-Con then I may have shared in your theories, but until this point I thought anyone could be the creator of Ultron I.e. SHIELD, HYDRA, or Thanos. But now that I've seen the footage now I hold to the popular belief that Tony creates Ultron.
Sturmpionier

I think Zola will create Ultron's personality, using Stark's tech, some of the Destroyer's power, a blob of Gamma irradiated Hulk blood, and the Terrigen mists used to create the Inhuman versions of SW and QS.

That way, everyone (almost) has a stake in Ultron's creation, and thus will have a reason to want to fight him. You use story point to involve Widow and Hawkeye. They use Hawkeye's personality patterns because they want to make sure Ultron is a smart-ass (ok that's a stretch, let's try again.) They use Hawkeye's mind so Ultron will be a really good shot (ugh! Take 3.) They use Hawkeye's memories so Ultron can hack into SHIELD easier (hmph, I think we'll just have to live with that one.) I then Ultron wants to marry BW and make her Jocasta because the Widow is so hot even robots are aroused by her.

(This post started out so smart, and then got dumb in a hurry. My bad, internet.)
