Elizabeth Olsen Talks Scarlet Witch's Costume In AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON

As many expected, we shouldn't expect to see Elizabeth Olsen don the revealing costume that Scarlet Witch has become known for over the years, as the Godzilla actress instead offers up some hints about the "different" and "rooted" look she'll have in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

In an interview with Total Film (via Superhero Movie News), Oldboy and Godzilla star Elizabeth Olsen opened up about the costume she will be wearing in Joss Whedon's Avengers: Age of Ultron. She will be joined in the sequel to the most successful superhero movie of all-time by Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Quicksilver. What do you think about Olsen's comments?

"We’ve done some costume stuff, yeah! My favourite piece is my secrecy cloak that prevents anyone from seeing what I’m wearing. There’s a hood, and a robe – it protects the image! I don’t think Joss ever would have hired me, honestly, if he wanted me to wear those outfits; I am not a professional athlete and nor am I a model. Wearing those costumes wouldn’t be fun for anyone who wasn’t those things. He already had a different idea. It respects and involves the comic-book character but it’s different, more rooted. It’s for someone today. Well, if someone walked around wearing what she wore in the comics, people would stop and say, ‘What the hell… she thinks she’s a superhero!’"

So she's not wearing the original costume. I agree it would look hella silly. She is a witch so a cloak might be nice.

Can't wait to see the uniforms. If they're SHIELD agents they might have a standard uniform.
GizmoEl
GizmoEl - 2/12/2014, 9:19 AM
And I thought the secrecy cloak she's talking about was to prevent outsiders from seeing her uniform. Not that it's part of the uniform itself.

@Giz, just what I was gonna say, think it's to protect from people seeing what her real costume will look like in the movie...that' show I read it too...

The original suit would definetely look stupid in a movie. Maybe something like her new Uncanny Avengers outfit with a hood. They have to change it a little bit though so that it won't look like Dark Phoenix from The Last Stand.

I'm cool with a more grounded design, I just hope she doesn't get too much hate for it.

@omega no the cloak is to protect while filming so that they keep it secret like captain america had a cloak with a hoodie when filming avengers and Thor too . It's to protect from cameras to keep it a secret for as long as possible .

What she wears in the comics is like a stripper outfit so that's not realistic

@ThefoulMatti Does this have to do anything with Scarlet Witch's costume in Age of Ultron? Go away little troll!!

@batz11 and @giz exactly the robe is the same black one the actors used when filming the avengers is to protect the image so no cameras will take pictures of the suit

Naw she will have a good costume, one thing Marvel Studios does right is the characters costumes. Well unless you are Hawkeye.........

There's far too little information for me to even visualise what she's talkin' about, but yeah..

The way I read it, she's referring to maintaining secrecy. I'm an idiot, though, so..

Ignore me.

While I dont expect Scarlet Witch to be in spandex and a body suit, I do have an issue with the lack of consistency when it comes to superhero costumes. In the Avengers, Captain America and Iron Man were the only ones whose costumes somewhat resembled the 616 comics. But Thor, Hawkeye, Hulk and Black Widow were a mix of other versions. Theoretically speaking, if Captain America could have a costume with a mask and nobody mentions how silly it looks, then Hawkeye could have worn a 616 version of his costume with the mask and there would be no issue either. I hate it when these actors and directors say they want to take a more grounded approach to the costumes and powers of super heros in a super hero movie. It makes no logical sense.

But I dunno, I just don't think it's happening.

I would be surprised if it didn't at least resemble something that most of us are familiar with. I'm wondering if Quicksilver will closely resemble the 616 universe with his costume
