Kevin Feige On How AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON Helped Map Out CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR

As we all know (or should know), the third film in the Captain America franchise will be titled Captain America: Civil War and it will put Tony Stark and Steve Rogers against each other. We’ve already have multiple reports or why the two will fight and we’ve also had rumors of the members that will side with the Captain and those who will side with Iron Man. But now, in a new interview with IGN, Marvel head Kevin Feige revealed many aspects in Avengers: Age of Ultron that will help set up the events in the Civil War film. For instance, the leaked “wood-chopping” scene. “I showed the scene of the two of them chopping wood together during our announcement," He then added, "It's one of my favorite scenes - because I thought it did represent the undercurrent of their disagreements to come. So a lot of the groundwork is being laid here."

Feige then reveals that the end scene in Avengers: Age of Ultron also helps set up for Stark’s and Capt’s battle and it’s one of his favorite moments in the film. No need to fear, Kevin Feige’s quotes contain NO spoilers. “There's a great moment at the end of this movie [Avengers: Age of Ultron] that we won't spoil, but it involves the notion of them realizing that the only way through all this is together, and I love that. It's one of my favorite moments in the film.” He then continues by saying the events of Age of Ultron could have been avoided, and woudn’t have been fixed without the help of Tony Stark/Iron Man. “I do think that if it wasn't for Tony then maybe none of this would have happened. And if it wasn't for Tony then the day may not have been saved. But his intentions were good, and I think we cary that through in future films in a way that makes it very balanced in terms of who you might agree with in arguments to come."

Robert Downey Jr. then shared his viewpoint on Captian America: Civil War and tells the reason he thinks Tony Stark is different from his ally-turned-enemy Steve Rogers. "But also [Tony] Stark grew up under the shadow of this very close father son/relationship that Howard [Stark] had with Steve [Rogers, Captain America] so I'm sure that it's driven by some unconscious motives." He then elaborates and applies a trait to the two characters that he thinks best fit them. "At the same time, they're two vastly different generations of moral psychology. And arguably, Cap's is more righteous. But I think Tony is a realist. So that's always a fun dynamic to play."

That above was Robert Downey Jr.'s viewpoint, but Chris Evan's A.K.A. Steve Rogers had this to say about Captain America: Civil War and how Captain America and Iron Man are different. "This is why I think the next movie is going to be so effective - Civil War - because there's a flip-flop in the way we approach things. Tony's always been a trailblazer. He's always been his own man and he bucks authority. He dances to the beat of his own drum. Cap comes from a world or order, and organization, and hierarchy, and structure." He then says how he thinks Captain America: The Winter Soldier helped shaped the events in Captain America: Civil War as well. "I think after Cap 2 when SHIELD kind of fell that Cap kind of realized that you can't necessarily trust the people around you - or you can't trust the system. I think he now is kind of starting to follow his own heart, and do his own thing, and as a result there becomes this kind of flip-flop in perspective."

@AlexanderLykins I hope I am incredibly wrong when I see it in theaters, but from what I have read, it just feels so clumsy and, dare I say it, sloppy. Jesus man, I was really hoping for something game-changing, and (SPOILERS, SPOILERS SPOILERS) losing two amazing characters in the same movie just feels like a total waste of potential. The Vision sounded amazing, though.

AlexanderLykins From what Ive read, some things will pi$$ some people of alot. Two main things, one of what I think you refer to.
Seems like it is great insane action but some wierd plot details and some things seemingly cut from the final version.

Just enjoy the movie, don't fret too much, keep the parts you like, dismiss the ones you don't...the MCU will keep going, always more to come!

@MarkJulian

I do it the same reason the other Editors do it, and that is to have enough time to edit, and make the article look presentable when it hits live for everyone to see. I saw that this feature was just recently added to the 'Manage Articles' section, and I feel as though we should be able to use it to its full potential. Now if somebody were to use the feature to spam, or cheat to get articles, it'll be a problem. But I'm just doing this solely so I would have enough time to edit whatever it is i'm writing. If I can't use the feature like the rest of the Editors, it shouldn't be at everyone's disposal.

Eh, it's far too early to panic about Age of Ultron. I know a lot of clips are being released, but by all accounts we've barely even scratched the surface of the movie. Everything about the 2nd and 3rd acts are pretty much under wraps, so it's impossible to even speculate about how much or how little the movie sets up Civil War.

I haven't paid much attention to the latest spoilers, but from what I knew about the film previously, there's no way it ends hunky-dory. Everything I've heard about it suggests that it changes the MCU in an even bigger way than The Avengers or The Winter Soldier did. I highly doubt it'll be a purely happy ending like the first film.

God this movie sounds horrible. I'm afraid to go see it now. What if it's worse than Iron Man 3? I don't know if I can handle that.

@SauronsBANE

As you say, you haven't paid much attention to the spoilers, but for the people who have, the ending is vastly different than what's expected. I, like you, was expecting something game-changing and I'm pretty disappointed if what's being spoiled is true.

If it is, they missed an opportunity here.

@AlexanderLykins Just talking generally, didn't mean to say you were the one panicking, but I hear ya! I'm still confident this movie is going to blow us all away. Even if we can nitpick some stuff we don't like, I bet the rest of the film will make up for it in a big way.

@gladiator189 Some sources have said that Baron Strucker is murdered by Ultron and Quicksilver is shot...multiple times, though some people in here who supposedly have already watched the movie said that's not true, so take it with a grain of salt.
