Was AGE OF ULTRON A Precursor To Ultron Appearing In A Marvel Studios Movie?

At Marvel's C2E2 Age of Ultron panel in Chicago, one fan asked Senior Vice President of Publishing Tom Brevoort whether the event is a way of setting the stage for Ultron to appear in a Marvel Studios movie. Hit the jump to find out his answer!

Joss Whedon has already teased the introduction of a certain brother and sister duo in his sequel to The Avengers, but will they and the rest of Earth's Mightiest Heroes be facing off against Ultron? As we already know, the comic and movie divisions are very separate, with the former often reflecting what happens in the latter rather than the other way around. With Age of Ultron actually delayed since before the superhero ensemble was even released, it is of course unlikely that it has anything to do with what Marvel Studios has planned for their next instalment. Even so, Tom Brevoort certainly thinks it's a possibility and it's unlikely that Kevin Feige won't have noticed the popularity of this series or the character! Many thanks to Newsarama for the following.

Was Age of Ultron intended to set the stage for the title villain to appear in a Marvel Studios film? "My guess is, probably sooner or later if they do enough Avengers films, they'll get to Ultron," Brevoort says. "We didn't do Age of Ultron specifically for that. However, since we're so integrated at Marvel, I wouldn't be surprised if they got to that point at some point, to see some elements that may have happened during Age of Ultron or any of the previous Ultron stories, make it into a film. But that's just conjecture on my part."

Anyone else think Avengers 3 is perfectly set-up for Ultron with Ant-Man being first of Phase 3?

Age of Ultron is terrible, but Marvel would be crazy not to use the character in a movie (especially with Ant-Man taking place after The Avengers 2).

I've said this before, Kang & Ultron HAVE to appear in future Avengers movies.

So far, I'm really liking the Age Of Ultron.

Oh yeah, Age of Ultron is waaaaay better than Avengers Vs. X-Men, but used toilet paper would probably make for a better read than that! :P I still maintain that Marvel's last truly great event was Civil War. I'm by no means a DC guy, but 2013 belongs to The Trinity War...

Ultron is lame. why would i wanna see the Avengers for Terminator? they should stick to fighitng villains that are actually compelling characters.

Just imagine THIS in the hands of Joss Whedon!

i'd rather watch the Avengers face Loki again then fight some generic robot like Ultron.

So, who would y'all rather see in future Avengers movies(after Thanos of course)? Korvac? I'm getting the feeling he might be in GOTG.

To not put Ultron in an Avengers movie, would be like not putting the Joker in a Batman movie franchise.

I'm sure we'll see him show up, especially with an Ant-Man movie on the road.

@AtrueHero, they should do Namor and The Atlanteans if Fox didn't get him.

Pietro and Wanda could work too but if they can't explain the relation to Magneto then i dont wanna see them.

@Marvelpsycho, why is it that you're so suprised is a better question. you act like its common knowledge. like its something you learn in Elementary School: Math, Social Studies, Science and Marvel Films Rights.

I guess i always assumed the Antman movie would introduce Ultron as helper and switching to evil in the end credits scene.

have you read any of the articles post avengers where Fox became open to the idea of a shared universe?

TheAmazingAvenger - 4/27/2013, 11:34 AM
@Shamo: Why do they have to explain Pietro and Wanda's relation to Magneto? They didn't even know that until much later in the comics. And legally, Marvel Studios can't make them related to Magneto. Would it really kill you guys if they weren't mutant? They could very well be mutates, have the same power set and be the same characters.

Not sure why people are down on Ultron. It's basically whats going to happen to us when our robots take over.
