We all knew that
Avengers: Infinity War would be a mammoth of a film. It is the culmination of 10 years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, characters that much of the public has fallen in love with. The hype has been through the roof for
Infinity War, with the first trailer smashing the record for the most views of a movie trailer in a single day, and has garnered more than 150 million views since its was first released. But if the Fandango pre-sales results are any indication, we may have a record-setting movie on our hands with
Avengers: Infinity War.
Earlier this year,
Black Panther made history as the best-selling superhero film ever in the history of pre-sales for that site. And once again, Marvel Studios have outdone themselves. With ticket pre-sales going online today 9:00 a.m. EST, it took only a matter of 6 hours to eclipse the 24-hour pre-sale record that
Black Panther had set.
Black Panther had an incredible 202 million dollar domestic opening weekend. And
Infinity War just broke that film's pre-sale record in 6 hours. Folks, this film could far exceed our previous predictions on box office performance. So sound off below with your [perhaps updated] predictions for
Infinity War's opening weekend domestic and global gross!
Fandango also had the following statistics to report based on a survey of 1000 users who purchased tickets today:
- 97% are excited to see how the heroes work together
- 94% are excited to see different franchise characters meet for the first time
- 92% see
Infinity War as the culmination of the MCU films that have come before
- 87% have seen all the other MCU films
- 71% saw
Black Panther in theaters
- 60% believe
Black Panther made them more excited for
Infinity War
