AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Netflix Description Reportedly Updated After Thanos Labeled A "Sociopath"

Is Thanos a sociopath? Is he a psychopath? After fans took issue with how Netflix described the Mad Titan in their Avengers: Infinity War listing, the streaming service has removed the label.

The debate over whether Thanos was justified in his actions in Avengers: Infinity War has been going on for months, highlighted by the existence of the "Thanos Did Nothing Wong" subreddit. It is presumably these believers that took issue with Netflix's description of Avengers: Infinity War, labeling the Mad Titan as a "sociopath."

The original description for the blockbuster film on Netflix read: "Superheroes amass to stop intergalactic sociopath Thanos from acquiring a full set of Infinity Stones and wiping out half of all life in the universe."

Fans took issue with this description, arguing that it didn't necessarily describe Thanos fairly or accurately. The arguments against Thanos's description mainly stem from the clinical definition of the word "sociopath" and the similar traits one may share with a "psychopath."

Look, I'm not a licensed professional and neither are the people working at Netflix which is why they presumably changed the description of Avengers: Infinity War to remove the label.

According to Comicbook.com, the description of Avengers: Infinity War on Netflix now reads: "Invader. Annihilator. So-called savior. As Thanos moves ever closer to omnipotence, the fate of the universe rests with the Avengers." It doesn't appear that the update has rolled out for everyone as the listing on my computer still calls him an "intergalactic sociopath," but it looks like a change is coming.

According to WebMD, the most official unofficial medical site in the universe where I self-diagnose all my problems, doctors don't really diagnose people as either psychopaths or sociopaths and instead use the term "antisocial personality disorder." Even directors Joe and Anthony Russo had previously called Thanos "a holy warrior" and described him as "noble."

Either way, labeling him doesn't change the fact that half the universe has been wiped from existence because of his actions. And now we have Avengers: Endgame to look forward to.

Experience the next chapter in the MCU when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26, 2019.
