The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a vast landscape of wonder and excitement for comic book fans and the like. During their 13 film run so far, they've only scratched the surface on what is to come in the Marvel Cinematic Universe event films Avengers 3 and Avengers 4. In this editorial, I'll be chronicling the 5 things I want (and expect) to see in the third and fourth Avengers films.
1. The Thanos Quest
It's pretty much a given that this will be what we will see during the events of Avengers 3, Thanos will be on his quest to aquire all of the Infinity Stones during his time in the film. I'd also like to add that we may see Thanos aquire some stones in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, but not by his own hands and Thor: Ragnarok.
Why would Thanos be after the stones, you ask? What would compell him to collect all of the Infinity Stones, Omnipotence? The Destruction of the Universe? The Death of the Avengers? Nope, it's more subdued than that...
2. Introduction of 'Death'
No, not the death of a character, but the personification of "Death", herself. In the Marvel Comic's lore, Death is a cosmic entity who, ironically, Thanos wants to "woo" in order th gain her affection. The introduction of Death would also bring to the forefront her hand in the creation or "forging" of the Infinity Stones with the other Cosmic Entities of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Eternity, Entropy, and Infinity.
It's been said that Avengers 3 and 4 will be very cosmic based in nature and will (see: may) take things off-Earth. Putting these all powerful Cosmic Entities in the forefront as opposed to being in the background (see: Guardians of the Galaxy) and getting more of their backstory and Thanos' 'quest' to "woo" Death so that he can gain her affection is something I'm wholeheatedly looking forward to with the full extent of my body. These cosmic beings not being in the film would be a bit of a disappointment as they are the ones who essentially created and forged the Infinity Stones into what we know of them today. Also, having Death not in the film would give Thanos no drive in the collection of the Stons themselves, unless them come up with some other reasonings for him aquiring the stones other than death and destruction. A miss oppurtinity indeed.
3. 'Doctor Strange' Warns The Avengers
This is something I'm jus spitballing here, but in a long shot comment, I can see Doctor Stephen Strange being the one who warns the Avengers of the coming threat from Thanos and 'Death', seeing as Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson has teased the appearance of "Death" in the film itself. Having him be the one who warns Earth's Mightiest fits his MO, he's the magic keeper, the one who knows of supernatural and cosmic threats from other dimensions. If he's not the one who warns the Avengers of the coming attack from Thanos, then I'd chalk it up to Thor being the one to find out first.. Maybe, they both have an idea of what's to come and both come to unite the Avengers once again for an all out battle of cosmic proportions. It's an idea, isn't it?
4. The Appearance of the Guardians of the Galaxy
This was pretty much a given as well, the appearance of the Guardians of the Galaxy coming to Earth to (or even staying off-world) to defend it from Thanos and his (persumed) army. This idea has been kciked around and retracted by Gunn himself, but the idea of them appearing in the film is a no-brainer, seeing as Peter Quill has ties to Earth, and Gamora has ties to Thanos as well as Drax's vegence he needs to take on Thanos for killing his family. OH, and the Russos tease of Star-Lord being in either film was one, too.
5. Thanos' Kids
This is a bit of a long shot, but maybe Thanos' other adoptive children will be in the film, as Nebula has teased the idea of Thanos having other children. Again, it's a long shot, but hey, a guy can dream, right?
Okay, that's all for this editorial, for now. I hope you got a kick out of reading it and please sound off with your comments and thoughts below! Thanks for reading!!
