New Report Indicates That Joe And Anthony Russo Will Helm AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR

Last month, a semi-reliable source revealed that Captain America: The Winter Soldier directors Joe and Anthony Russo were in talks to helm The Avengers 3. Well, one of the trades has now weighed in and it sounds like the duo will indeed be in charge of Avengers: Infinity War!

A lot of sites are trying to get into the scoop game, and while some are more reliable than others, the trades remain the most reliable source of information before we get an official press release. A little while ago, it was mentioned that Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War directors Joe and Anthony Russo were in talks to possibly helm the third Avengers movie (this was before it the two-part Avengers: Infinity War was announced). This information came from the same site that said James Gunn had landed the job, so it was taken with a pinch of salt. However, Deadline have now weighed in on the matter and reveal that, "The Russo are building up their Marvel cred with this all-star outing, and I keep hearing they will step up to the ultimate Marvel all-star team and take the reins of The Avengers franchise from Joss Whedon, possibly with that next film that will shoot back to back." So, what does this mean for Joss Whedon? Does he simply want to take a break after The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron or is he moving on from the Marvel Cinematic Universe? The Russo brothers are a great replacement, but losing him will be hard to get over! In other news, the site also mention that they expect Sebastian Stan, Samuel L. Jackson and Scarlett Johansson to return for Captain America: Civil War.

The Russos had Captain America working with, not leading, 2 women and 2 black men. The directors never made their daily feminist tweets and said how much they did to promote equality, they took action and didn't gloat about it, never even brought up it up. And you know what? People enjoyed that movie and never made a fuss about how great it was the Russos were promoting equality. It just happened, and that's how a movie is supposed to promote equality.

Let him finish the trilogy, please. Lol Marvel can never keep anyone on board beyond 2 films. Yet this one may be intentional.

@GentlemanlyBatman

I could only watch it twice. The dialogue and story wasnt good, its pretty overrated imo and just overblown bc all of the characters are in one movie

Pretty sure it was common knowledge that Whedon wouldn't be back after Age of Ultron.

And oh by the way, that "semi reliable source" was BadassDigest, and this would appear to be confirmation of their scoop. Just saying.

Whedon and the Russos built their films with their respective visions. Can the Russos' work with the Avengers franchise? Especially following Whedon? The closest indication we'll get is with what they do with Civil War, but that's too far away and the man will be chosen by that point.

If Age of Ultron is yet another hit, minds from both fans/haters and Marvel employees alike will have second thoughts. Calling it.

Whedon is great in team dynamic, that's why I wanted him to stay on

But I guess Civil War will prove if they can tackle team ensembles.

The haters don't give Whedon nearly enough credit. Sure they acknowledge the whole "he accomplished bringing these characters together", but then they follow that up with "it's overrated the dialogue sucks, etc."... I mean, a lot of them say it themselves. He accomplished a lot, yet they're still focused on bringing it down.

Both Whedon and the brothers did good so it's cool. Though it woulda been cool to see Whedon finish a trilogy.

@Kurne

Well it was visually good(special effects, the cinematography not so much, it was very tv) but a nice thing I can say is that every charactr had something to do and they all had their moment...
