AVENGERS: Kevin Feige Addresses Original 6 Return Rumors; Scarlett Johansson's Project IS Still Happening

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has addressed recent rumours that the MCU's original six Avengers will assemble again, while also confirming Scarlett Johansson is still developing a project for them.

Marvel Studios isn't quite in a state of DCEU-like disarray, but it's clear some changes need to be made. Whether it's a quantity-over-quality issue or the fact Kevin Feige is spread too thin, the Multiverse Saga hasn't quite managed to live up to expectations thus far.

Early word on The Marvels is positive, though, and we're seeing lots of indications that the problems are being addressed.

Recently, it was reported that Marvel Studios is making moves to bring back the original six Avengers - Captain America (Chris Evans), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), and The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) - for a future project. If we had to hazard a guess, it's likely Avengers: Secret Wars

Talking at last night's Las Vegas premiere for The Marvels, Feige was asked about the rumours head-on.

One specific thing I want to ask you that was in the headlines is this idea that some fallen Avengers could make their return, anything you can say about that?

No? Is that the answer?

Yeah?

Hmm….fallen Avengers returning. I literally have not even seen that, is that a new rumor?

Yeah, it was, like, one of the things that was talked about at this retreat where Scarlett Johansson and Robert Downey Jr. were possibly returning at some point.

We did not discuss that at the retreat. It’s the truth. We’re doing a project with Scarlett, we love Robert, he’s a part of the family. But in terms of returning? We’ll have to see.

The denial isn't a surprise and we wouldn't be shocked if Feige is telling the truth. After all, Variety's article has largely been dismissed as a "hit piece," with many of the claims either confirmed or strongly believed to be incorrect.

The biggest takeaway here is confirmation that Johansson's mystery MCU project is still in the works. We still have no clue whether it's a movie or TV show and are no closer to learning whether it will even star the actress. Black Widow was a hit in 2021 (considering how and when it was released) so a sequel likely isn't off the table.

Do you think we'll eventually get to see the original six Avengers assemble in the MCU again?
